I’ve been a loyal customer of Lucas Roasting for about 7 years, and I’ve always been impressed with both the quality of their coffee and the level of service they provide. I typically order online in 3-pound bags, and the freshness is consistently excellent.

In my line of work, I work directly with people from all over the country/world, and we often compare coffees as it is something (other than work) to talk about that almost everyone has in common.

I always have the freshest roasts on hand, and I frequently bring extra to share with colleagues for espresso and lattes. Without fail, people are consistently impressed by the quality of the coffee. People have asked me if I put cream in the coffee (never!) because of the amount of crema due to the freshness, which some have never even seen before.

In addition, I appreciate their dedication to small business support, growth, and success. This is truly a family run business where the owners do EVERYTHING in the company, because they care so much about the product and customer, and it shows...

I don’t love writing reviews, but Lucas Roasting deserves one so I’m breaking all my rules - that’s how good this place is.

A Wolfeboro native, I now live in Portland, Oregon - home of the nerdiest coffee nerds you can imagine - and there are a lot of great roasters out this way; however, whenever I make it back home to my parents’ place, I make a point to try some new Lucas beans (or some old favorites). Recently, my mom sent me a bag of their Ethiopia beans and I made what had to have been the best pourover of my life. Even if you don’t get nerdy about coffee like some folks do, let me tell you this - it’s impossible to brew a bad cup using beans from Lucas. Not to mention that Troy, the owner, is always lovely to talk to and always willing to make a recommendation or to explain the different processes for their various roasts.

My favorite place in all of NH to get coffee. Troy & his family are passionate about their quality products and it shows! Whether you’re a triple-shot-oat-milk-mocha kinda person or a simple Joe, Luca’s always makes the perfect drink. Not only that, but they provide 100% contact-free service and have been from the start of the pandemic. We regularly converse with Troy in the mornings and I’m not sure I’d recognize him without the mask now 😂 All in all, great coffee & exceptional service from a responsibly-owned local, family business! — I think it’s important to note, being a super finicky coffee drinker myself, that if you’re coming from out of town and need a CAFFEINATED coffee that’s not diner quality this is essentially the only place providing it.
