I wish I could give Sajda a better review, but unfortunately, our experience was anything but positive. My fiancée and I were looking for an outfit for our engagement party, and after a disappointing experience with a designer in India, we hoped that this store would provide us with a smoother process. Please read the other lowly rated reviews as a sneak peek into gaslighting, poor treatment, and misconstrued events for what you can expect from this establishment.
When we first walked into the store, we were warmly greeted by Suman, one of the owners. She asked us about our budget, event details, and even mentioned that some outfits were on sale with negotiable prices. Based on this, we felt reassured and decided to proceed. After a fitting, we received a quoted price by the senior staff.
When we returned to finalize our purchase, instead of dealing with Suman, we were greeted by Nishi, Suman’s daughter and one of the owners. This is when things started to go downhill. Nishi gave us an ultimatum regarding the price, contradicting the earlier information we were provided. The lack of consistency was concerning, and on top of that, Nishi’s rude demeanor marked the first red flag. We tried to move forward, believing the process would improve.
A major part of the reason we chose Sajda was because of the clear timeline and process we were promised by Suman. Since we were traveling from out of state, we made it clear that our schedule was tight and that we would need to work around specific timelines. We even adjusted our entire schedule—canceling flights and other plans—to accommodate the store’s timelines. We paid a deposit and agreed on the alterations, confident that everything would be ready in time.
A few days before the pickup, we were informed that the alterations would not be ready as promised, which was frustrating, but we worked with them. On the day of the final fitting, we arrived expecting the outfit to be ready, but we were told that there were still hours of work left on the blouse which the extra work we had the seamster cancel altogether. Discovering the fitting itself was too tight and uncomfortable was disappointing. But the real shock came when we noticed a tear in the blouse, which had subsequently been hastily stitched with random material that didn’t match.Thankfully it’s not in a highly visible area but the price tag does not match the quality of materials claimed. At this point, we were extremely frustrated. We asked to speak with Suman, whom we had dealt with initially, but instead, we were met with Nishi once again. When we tried to express our concerns, Nishi responded by yelling at us, calling us “extremely difficult” and claiming she was going “above and beyond” for us. This was shocking, especially considering we had been accommodating throughout the process and had even made it clear from the beginning that if the store couldn’t meet our needs, we would look elsewhere. Instead of taking responsibility, we were met with hostility and disrespect.
Throughout nearly every exchange with senior/staff it became evident that they have absolutely no power or decision making rights and had to constantly refer to Nishi for approval. This micromanagement style only added to the poor experience.
More than two days have passed since we were expecting a follow-up call from Suman, but there has been no communication. The lack of follow-up and accountability is incredibly disappointing.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Sajda based on our experience. We were looking for a smooth, professional, and respectful experience, but instead, we were subjected to poor customer service, unprofessional behavior, and a lack of commitment to timelines. We made significant efforts to be flexible—adjusting our entire schedule to accommodate the store’s timeline—but the service we received was far from what we expected. I would advise potential customers to proceed with caution if you value respectful communication and...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. The customer service here was awful. There’s a saying that goes don’t judge a book by its cover, something the associates here could learn. My bridal party and I traveled from out of town to look for a bridal lehenga. Initially the associate was very friendly and helpful and I found several lehengas I wanted to try on. The first lehenga I tried on I was very very happy with. My only hang up was I need to confirm the cost with my parents first. When I went back to go change, the associate asked me my price range. When I told her what it was she informed me that nothing in the store was at that price point. That was fine I was aware of what kind of boutique I walked into and for a lehenga I really liked and wanted, I would have been willing to pay whatever cost. However after changing out of the lehenga she simply stood there looking at me. She did not bring me the other lehengas I wanted to try on and when I went to look at others she simply said, “oh you know those cost more” with a dismissive and snooty attitude. She made no effort after to really help me look or try on, other than to explain their ordering/commission process. Regardless of what I said about my budget or what she assumed about me, I should have still been allowed to have the full customer experience and try on the other lehengas instead I was treated as if I wasted her time. I was excited for the lehenga I really wanted and I would have paid the price I knew it was worth, but I’m not willing to give business to a place with such a rude associate. Completely unprofessional.
Edit: with all due respect what you’re not about to do is gaslight me about my experience by referring to the points I mentioned as inaccuracies. Yes we walked in, but we did have an appointment time for 4pm that we missed. Regardless if your business has such an issue with walk-in clients you could have made that clear in the beginning in a polite manner that you are appointment only instead of giving us half hearted service. Secondly no where in my initial review or in person did I say our budget was strict, I gave an amount, and your associate falsely assumed that I would be staying within that price range. Thirdly, I’m not sure what accommodations you are referring to. Of the several lehengas we selected we were only allowed to try on one and it was after trying only one on, that your associate was made aware of our “strict” budget. We were not shown any others after this within our supposed it price range. And when an attempt was made to look at others we were informed in a rude manner that those cost more than the first and only one that was tried on, as was mentioned in my previous review. Fourthly there were not two associates present during our entire visit. The second associate with the dog did not arrive until towards the end to offer additional information about the production/shipping process and to take our information before we left. Again if your primary responsibility is to your appointment clients (there were only two others in the entire store and it was not busy) and helping us was such a favor, then I do not understand why you apparently had two associates help us and why you did not inform us of the appointment policy when we first walked in. Regardless your establishment made a mistake and instead of taking responsibility you are doubling down on it and calling your customers liars. Others were there, they heard the conversation. Based on other reviews this type of condescending behavior is the norm...
Read moreI want to start my review on a positive note. Sajda is a very beautiful store with unique modern fusion pieces. When I first came to the store a few weeks ago I asked for a bridal appointment. I showed the associate the dress I was looking to make and told her my budget and she said that this is something they can do quite expressively. I walked around the store and checked out their pieces which were very heavy - the dress I had shown is significantly lighter in work. I was looking for something on the lighter side since I am getting married in the tropics in 2023 (which also gives plenty of time to make a dress which was discussed as well with the associate). Since I could not be seen that same day, we scheduled an appointment for 1/29/2022 to discuss making this dress, but same had to be rescheduled due to a snow storm and I was able to reschedule for 2/5/2022. I thought I was running late, so as a courtesy I called the store to inform that I would be running late, but not one picked up my calls. When I arrived to the store the associate informed me my appointment was for 1pm not 12pm which was fine and meant that I was early so this did not bother me. I patiently waited and was finally seen at 1:15pm. We began discussing my budget first again and then I showed the picture of the dress I wanted made with slight modification (no sleeves, different neckline as I did before etc.). The associate told me that this is NOT something they could done in my budget as initially discussed expressively could be weeks ago. She then talked to what I assume was the owner and quoted me a grand over what the designer who makes this dress has listed and also my budget. My "initial" consultation lasted barely 3 minutes. And they did not seem to want to work with me in my budget. While the associates were all polite, I feel my time was wasted having this appointment in the first place. I should have been advised upon our initial conversation weeks ago that the dress I was looking to make was not feasible in my budget (which was quite significant already). Hence, my 3-star review. The only reason I wanted to come to this store and not the designer directly was to have a face to face dealing in making my wedding dress and have that experience in this process. I did wind up contacting the designer of the dress I love and she quoted me under her listed price. While I will not have a face to face experience, hopefully I'll still get the dress I want. I later received a call from another associate finally returning my calls earlier in the day. I said that I had already came and left and that I called because I thought I was running late and wanted to call to inform them. She said oh yes - sorry we could not make your dress these things happen sometimes. I said, "Okay." Overall, I left feeling my time was wasted and that this store was trying to upcharge for a dress already significantly priced. I hope this review will be taken as constructive advice to the owners and hope that my experience does not happen again to...
