This is a different Chinese restaurant. The food is fresh, crisp and alive with flavor. I've never been to China, but I liken it to eating Italian food in America and then going to Italy and realizing real Italian food is entirely different from what we get in America. I brought home food for 8, so we savored many offerings. The first sense something was new and different was when my grandchildren complained to their parents, "How come we don't go here?" I was thrilled to hear all three of them loved what they got. I confess it was a different experience for me, too. The soup, wonton, and dumpling appetizers were an incredible prelude of what was to come. There was a freshness to the apps I'd never before experienced at any Chinese restaurant. And, they were quite the mouthful. I didn't ask, but they tasted as they were made from scratch moments before being served. You don't want to miss these apps. We sampled all the entrees, but mine was the only one specified as steamed shrimp and vegetables with no sauce or salt. This gave Yoan's a chance to shine, and it did. All were plump and crisp and came out as I ordered: no salt. Of course mine wasn't the family favorite, but the point is Yoan's got the order exactly right. The kids demanded next time they order Chinese food, it must come from Yoan's. I laughed but deep down I loved it and am grateful for Annie making me look good to my family. I read a few negative reviews and feel badly for Yoan's as it serves up something uniquely different, fresh, and crisp from other Chinese restaurants. The food is not loaded with salt and MSG. I'll drive here in an instant. Oh, the portions are HUGE! You get your money's worth here. And, for those of you old enough to remember, you even get almond cookies - something you either pay extra for or cannot get at other Chinese restaurants. Almond cookies are a relic of the past which we got when, as a child, we dined at August Moon, in Morristown (evoking a nostalgic memory from the past no doubt one or two of you will remember.) Anyway, Yoan's Garden is different. It's got fresh, crisp delicious, quality and I recommend it. You can't beat the...
Read moreThis place isn't what it used to be. The food has been going downhill for a while but we still order because my son particularly enjoys their all shrimp dumplings which are hard to find elsewhere. Tonight I placed an order which their online system recorded incorrectly. I ordered 2 of the same dish with different instructions...one mild, one medium spicy, and both with different vegetable preferences. The system logged it as 2 of the exact same dish with the same preferences. When I called to explain I was told the dish had already been made so they "couldn't" change it. Truth is, they COULD have changed it, they just wouldn't. So, because their online ordering system is faulty, I didn't get what I ordered and they refused to make it right because 'the differences aren't that much.' If I had paid them less though that would have been a problem, I'm sure. My recommendation: Go elsewhere. Chan's food remains constant and they fix their mistakes. Makoto, while having a limited menu, also makes good on any mistakes and has very good food. Yoan's food isn't good enough to tolerate their unwillingness to make right what is not the customer's fault. After being a customer for a VERY long time, tonight was...
Read moreI ordered chicken and brocolli from Yoan's Garden and I threw it in the trash. The chicken is no where close to cooked it is boiled flavorless chicken with no color at all. The sesame chicken was so sweet that I couldn't even finish eating it , it was drenched in sause and you could tell that the workers had no care in the way they prepared the chicken. I spoke to an employee and said I didn't like the chicken and brocolli and asked if there were any way that I could get my money back or exchange it and she told me that I ordered the chicken brocolli and if I didn't like it there was nothing she could do. At Shogun Wok, another chinese resturaunt when I told them that I didn't like the dish they politely let me exchange it. I told the employee that I wouldn't be ordering from there again and she said that it's okay. That shows you exactly how much Yoan's Gardens care about there costomers. Horrible customer service. I will never purchase from there again. A complete and toytal waste of my hard earned money. Tip: only order from there if you want to...
