I really wanted to like this place so when it wasn't very good the first time I went back a second time to see if maybe they had gotten their act together a year later. Unfortunately not.

First the waitress comes up to my buddy and I and while we are both looking at a single menu and says "Whaddya want?" Seriously, that's it, no hello or anything else. So we order a couple of Helles beers and the cheese & meat plate for $15. The beers arrive and are nondescript, just tastes like Coors on tap for about twice the price. Then as she is bringing the platter she says oops! and drops a half a sausage of the three we get on the floor. No apology or offer to replace, which you would normally expect in a situation like this. Then she hurries back to be with the other waitress and they continue watching some vampire movie with their backs turned to the customers. Ok....really, you aren't going to do anything about this??? Then 15 minutes later she comes over and says "Do you want anything else?" At that point I am pretty livid and say "I'd like a replacement for the food I am paying for that you spilled." Waitress dummy looks at me a little upset like I need to shutup and stop disturbing her movie time and then just goes back to the cash register, saying nothing! So we decide to leave and pay the bill and the other waitress (maybe she was the manager) explains that they couldn't replace the spilled food because they don't actually make any food there, its is all prepackaged and catered in! OH, so that makes it all OK, right? Then she knocks $5 off the bill, woo hoo.

So if you are interested in going to a place with poor service, mediocre beer, and prepackaged food from the day before made elsewhere then this is the place for you! Really, across the street and a few doors up there is an excellent sandwich shop (has a lady's name in it) that is about ten million times better than Bierwerks. Maybe they should have their food catered in...

I do not give 1 star reviews that easily. You have to really earn those suckers. Like go out of your way to get them. I was so excited to go in and get some authentic bratwurst and Wisconsin cheese sauce. Well, unfortunately I didn’t get to try any. We walked over there from across the street after playing some pool. While my husband was placing an order and bantering with couple friends if who will pay for what, I asked another server if I can get a taster of two beers. While she was very kind and go them for me, the kiddo taking our food order turned to me and said: Don’t even bother ordering those because you are cut offā€ I was baffled as no one even ordered drinks. I was so embarrassed that I simply sat down whereas the guys asked why would she even say that. And the answer was ā€œ I smell alcohol on your breathā€. We paid, went outside, and after, made a decision we don’t even want ro eat this place. Went back, asked to cancel our order and get a refund. Which she did, but there was so much disdain and anger towards us. I worked in hospitality industry half if my life. These are hard calls to make for any bartender or server. There is a lot of training that goes into it, its a fine line to walk. There was no training in this place. The young lady acted very entitled and authoritative, with a bunch of dismissiveness and lack of experience. I decided to take a day to make sure this place deserves a zero rating. And they do. Many places to choose....

If I could give this ā€œestablishmentā€ a .5 then I would because the beer was actually good. Everything started off great until there was an altercation with another customer. That said customer was yelling derogatory terms to multiple women in the outside seating area. We minded our business and enjoyed our drinks. Our two sons were having a blast and being normal kids when our oldest jumped lightly into a puddle. As soon as he did that, an older guy in a wheelchair yelled aggressively at our son to stop. We don’t take that lightly, and in return for his words to our son he received an aggressive lecture from my wife and I. He did not say a word as I’m sure he was shocked that we said something. Apparently this guy is the co owner of the place. Mind you, he did not say anything to the earlier guy yelling derogatory words at women but he wants to yell at a 5 year old for being a kid. Right before he yelled at my kid, I had just told my kid that he should not be jumping into puddles. I don’t care who you are, you WILL NOT speak to my children like that under any circumstances. Needless to say we will not be back and he’s lucky he didn’t end up like a scrambled egg on the concrete. Probably mad cause he can’t splash in puddles since he...

I found BierWerks to be a decent place to chill out for a couple of hours while thunderstorms inundated my campsite about 20 miles away. They offer a reasonable variety of locally brewed beers at a reasonable price. My two pints of their red ale were quite tasty. There is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh and cool mountain air. And you have a prime view of the cluster of people who get log-jammed on Hwy 24 in Woodland Park while trying to escape Colorado Springs to a supposedly less crowded mountain retreat. The place offers up fresh cooked bratwurst to accompany the beer. However, I would only rate the serving I had at 3 out of 5 stars. The bratwurst itself is too large and the bun contains too much bread. So the end product ends up being a little difficult and messy to eat. And I was disappointed that my jalapeƱo bratwurst didn’t have more fire in its taste which would then justify a good quenching of red ale to put out the fire. I would really recommend that they switch to a more flavorful and edible brat such as those made by Johnsonville. Also, the parking is very limited, so you will likely end up having to park two or three blocks away on one of the side streets near the venue.

Love this place. New resident to Woodland Park and this is our go to hang out. If you are looking for gourmet food keep looking. If you want a casual spot to just relax, have a beer or two or three (I don’t judge), this is your spot. Service is friendly. Friendly, not always fast, but fast is not why you come here. Come and hang out an hour or two with friends or meet new friend while hanging out. The Brat is good the hummus plate hits the munchies urge and the pretzel is perfect. If you want more…they do have a great food truck on the premises during the summer season. Or get the hotdog and chips for only 4 bucks. And don’t forget to sit on the roof and admire Pikes Peak. Always amazing. In summary, great food, great atmosphere (inside and outside seating), friendly service and great beer! Oh and very dog friendly.
