I have used the How-To Store, as it was previously known, and now Woodland Hardware for 28 years as needed. The new store is nice in the sense that they carry just about anything hardware that you may need. But I will not use them again for anything unless there are no other options and not enough time to run to the Springs. The following is my experience and my personal opinions. Please read Yelp for my full review. I feel that their rental equipment is not maintained properly, and the store rental employees and the owner follow a business model that places the customer secondary to the revenue generated by rentals. We have rented bobcats, floor sanders, and a multitude of other equipment over the years. We rented a floor sander for our Douglas Fir flooring, which is a bit softer than hardwood. We needed to sand down approximately an 1/8th inch for the end of a plank, and less of a difference for the remainder of the small area of the floor. We installed the pad and 36 grit sandpaper, and started it. It did not sand. We ran it forward and back over several areas of the floor (the newly installed, and the existing) and the only part of the sander that engaged with the floor were 2 of the edges. Then it began to make loud noises and jogged to the side, as if the motor or some other element was failing. We shut it off, loaded it back in the car, and returned it the next morning at 8am. I spoke with 2 employees, and Kelly, the owner, who all pointed the blame on the user, not the equipment. (We performed remodeling professionally for 9 years, and built a custom home from the ground up... we know how to use a sander, and understand that a planer is a better choice if you have a large difference to level. We were working with the end of a 2x5 at this 1/8" difference, all else being lower). I can say from experience, this is not the first time - but it will be the last - that we rent equipment from the How-To and end up with equipment that doesn't work as intended. I walked away from this experience without a refund and knowing that each of the 3 people that I engaged with over this sander, were calling us liars. The policy that the customer is always right does not apply at the How-To. I told Kelly that he should retain my info, as when that same sander goes out again as a rental and he receives the same complaint - and he will - that we should expect a full refund. My advice - if you choose to work with Woodland Hardware, call them the instant that equipment does not work properly for you, get a name, and preferably get something in writing regarding a refund, and don't expect a refund even then. And don't expect respect.

They had exactly what I needed, which seems almost impossible. I bought an older used Challenger circuit breaker online and when I received it, the little screws that are used to tighten down the wire in the breaker were missing (see attached photo). I spent about 5 minutes looking around at the 1000s of little screws and bolts and things to see if I could find anything that might work and then I saw they had the EXACT part that I needed. 75 cents. Are you kidding me? I would have paid $5. I love their nut and bolt section. Best I have ever experienced. Saved me tons of time and trouble hunting it down online.

I came in after a heavy snow to buy a chainsaw and the salesman wouldn't sell me one because 'we don't set them up on sunday' I offered to do the setup myself and was still refused service. What a joke. Going to Ace in town a half hour away. Reply: I went to Tractor Supply and bought a saw from them and got the job done before the storm fall became dangerous. I'm not shopping here again.

I never take the time to leave a poor review unless I’m trying to save someone else from an unjust situation. My partner has been profiled twice due to him bringing his small daily cross body bag in (wallet, keys, etc.). I (female) had the same type of bag but didn’t get questioned even though I was standing right next to him. We explained that both our bags have standard items in it along with mandatory medical gear that we have to keep on us at all times. They kept pressing for my partner to leave his bag at the front but not me even though, again, we have the same bag. One of the workers even apologized afterwards as they knew it was absurd for them to ask let alone only ask my partner. Next my father rented a table saw out of pure necessity and they ended keeping a chunk of his deposit even though they gave him the saw broken and he had to trouble shoot it himself. As I helped my dad fight for his deposit back, I overheard one of the mangers whisper to another worker “Asshole” and weather he was talking about my dad who wouldn’t hurt a fly or another customer, they still have that attitude toward their customers. We have been very loyal but will never be returning now. Save your money and go to another place that actually cares about honesty and integrity. Foxworth is a good choice or make the trip to Home Depot/Lowes. Very disappointed as we always like to support local but too many of us have had too many issues and have had rude interactions with little to...

This used to be my go to hardware store. In the last year or two this place has really gone downhill and now I do my best not to shop here. Last year I purchased several new propane tanks here because I have had nothing but problems with propane tank exchanges...leaking tanks, you won't fill them, the tanks are too old, I have had several problems and have been told several times you won't full an exchange tank for one reason or another. So this year I have several new propane tanks. I go to get them filled and you won't fill one new tank because it had a spot of rust on it. I asked at your store what to do and was told to take my new propane tank and exchange it. The whole reason i bought propane tanks from your store is because I was tired of dealing with problems from tank exchanges. So now a year later I have totally wasted my money by buying propane tanks from your store. The staff is as unhelpful as can be. No one can tell me where to get my tank re certified, only that they won't fill it because it has a small amount of rust on the tank and that I should trade my new $50 tank in for a problematic used tank. Words cannot express my displeasure with your store. Customer service is terrible. There are several other problems I would love to discuss...
