Way too expensive for what we received…
Stopped here passing through from Divide. The food was.. eh. Our order: My husband: chicken sandwich with fries Me: breakfast burrito with half sausage gravy, half green chili, and a buttermilk pancake.
My husband’s food was not good, he said it tasted like boiled chicken with a slice of cheese on a bun. The fries were just regular fries, no notes there. I wish I had a picture of it…
My breakfast burrito was fine, the gravy was awful and tasted like it was from a bag/can. The green chili was the best part, it was great! I think the burrito portion was perfect, it was a great size and had a good mix of filling. Seriously though, that gravy was a disgrace, and it’s not that hard to make from scratch. The pancake seemed to be made from scratch which is great! I couldn’t tell if the whipped cream was made from scratch or from a can. The strawberries weren’t very fresh, they felt like they had been sliced maybe a couple days prior. The pancake was alright, really nothing special but I like that it was less than five dollars for size of it.
The service was alright, she was very nice but it was SO slow. It seemed like she only had 4 tables and we were all having to wait for everything. I asked for 2 waters, a cranberry juice, and a chocolate shake. We only received 1 water, and the cranberry juice was warm with no ice (that may not be her fault, it might be specific to that restaurant, but I would recommend serving juices like that with some ice especially because they don’t come out cold). I had to ask for a cup of ice and another ice water. The chocolate shake was alright as well.
Overall, the food needed some salt and that gravy needs to be reevaluated. The chicken sandwich needs a sauce and some major adjustments as well.
My favorite parts of the restaurant: • the giant wheel that you get to spin if you spend over $50. I thought it was super cute. • they make a point to explain how they use real butter to cook their food, which is great • the butter pats are at room temperature, and I like the full pour container of sugar on the table • they really stuck with the bear...
Read moreI went here because of the abundance of good reviews. Typically little ma’ and pop shops are amazing. Good home cooked meals, great service, good coffee, etc. This place was so disappointing... We got there at 9:30 am. Mind you there was me and one other person, so only a party of 2. We got sat fairly quickly. The restaurant was maybe only 2/3 full if that. We got greeted within one minute and got our waters shortly after. It seemed promising... Our server asked if we were ready when she dropped off the waters and we asked for a little bit more time. It took her 15 minutes to come back to our table to take our order. Once we ordered my breakfast burrito with sausage and he ordered his biscuits and gravy, I also ordered a coffee. She didn’t bring my coffee. It took the food 30 minutes to reach our table (again, the restaurant was not packed, and there was plenty of servers to go around..).. once the food reached our table I had to ask again for my coffee. We asked for Tabasco, never got it. The food was bland and processed. The eggs were packaged eggs, rubbery and bland. The sausage was bland (didn’t know that was even possible). The hash browns were mushy and bland. And the “green chili” tasted like semi spicy blended tomatoes. Not at all what a normal green chili would taste like... I figured it taking 30 minutes would mean that it was amazing made from scratch foods. The other person with me said the biscuit tasted like an over cooked McDonald’s hash-brown. The gravy tasted like it was made from a powdered gravy packet. And his hash-browns tasted like old fryer oil. I’ve had better food at village in and denny’s. We ate as fast as we could because we are not from the area and we were in a rush. Our entire meal process shouldn’t have taken an hour and a half for very poor quality food. We tipped her 20% regardless because that’s what everyone should do. But I definitely do not recommend going here if you’re in town. It’s not as good as every is...
Read moreWent there on a second date with someone very new, after completing an errand together all the way from Denver, before heading back, and had decided to order the special on the board, the omelette. Due to the unique and uncommon food allergy I have, I had to ask if it was made with any pork. That seemed to have drawn a bit of annoyance with the lady who took our order, who had assured me my item and the red chili it came with were Pork free. As a safety measure, I asked for the chili on the side. Maybe it was an off day for the lady, as she wasn't unwelcoming, but was not someone I felt gave any "Come on back" feelings about. The taste... Well... It tasted... DIFFERENT. Not bad, but not exactly how I've ever tasted eggs... Halfway through the trip back to Denver, is when an all too familiar feeling hit me, and I realized it immediately. While no item of mine had pork IN the dish, it had been cooked ALONGSIDE pork products. The grease from whatever else was on that grill or pan had cross contaminated with my food, and I got to spend an uncomfortable, awkward and internally loud remainder car ride home.
Food allergies aren't life or death. But they should ALWAYS be taken seriously, and treated with the understanding that it's not being mentioned just for conversation sake. I don't feel like the lady who took our order believed or cared about my allergy, and if she did, then whomever cooked it was not respecting the digestive health I requested. My date had assured me that his meal was wonderful, at the very least, but noticed we were not given the same welcome as locals who frequented the place (not that they were treated much differently to be honest.) I'd come back again, but... Not for a while mainly due to the distance and the preference of getting the memories faded enough to not recall the details of both the personality and the embarrassing ride home from the...
