Tommy’s is an all American restaurant chain with locations throughout McHenry county Illinois. The menu consists of pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs, pasta dishes, Submarine Sandwich, chili bowls, chicken sandwiches, Gyros, Philly Steak, Garden Salad, BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Shrimp Dinner, and some of the finest roast beef sandwiches all of which are very good. Today I visited the Woodstock location at 500 S Eastwood Drive. The restaurant is clean and bright, with big windows letting in plenty of sunshine. The staff is pleasant and responsive to your needs. I ordered my personal favorite, the roast beef sandwiches, with green peppers and Mozzarella cheese. I requested my sandwiches be “dunked” as that’s the way I prefer it. I also ordered a side of fried onion rings, and the order was takeout. As all ways, the meal was GREAT. Growing up in Chicago for most of my adult life, I have enjoyed roast beef sandwiches from Al’s Beef, Buena Beef, and Portillo’s and Tommy’s ranks up with them. The sandwich was BIG and satisfy my hunger appetite even though I skipped breakfast, and it was nearly two P.M. I eat at Tommy's because the quality is consistent, price is fair for what you buy. and and the food is good. Tommy’s is my favorite American food restaurant since moving to McHenry county some...
Read moreLike most people here have mentioned, we have been going to Tommy's for many years, but in the past year or so it's been terrible in many ways. Stale buns, dry/old fries and tamales, just to name a few things. BUT the biggest complaint of all is that the last few visits, including today (also in the past as well) we have gotten home and item(s) are missing. Now, going back 15 minutes to complain then back home again is just as much of a PITA, and I personally am starting to believe it's done intentional and they're banking on it "literally" that people won't come back to get their order corrected. Seriously, if you ordered 2 hot dogs and fries and another sandwich with fries and you get home and there's only 1 hot dog, come on, it's not like it's a difficult order. Now, I realize we should check the bag before pulling away (drive through), but when you think all should be good and there are cars waiting behind you I think most people just go. Again, I think Tommy's know that. So, with that ALL being said we're done with this place....
Read moreTo spend over $50 every time we order from here to nearly have a problem every time, does not make it worth it. This time, we got a root beer with barely any syrup. Someone had to push the button and watch the cup be filled with close to clear liquid, regardless of root beer being brown. Not acceptable. We are done wasting our money. My husband makes better burgers at home anyway, and the pizza puffs seem to be the exact frozen ones you get from the Walmart deli. Who knows if their burgers are frozen too. I called right away to bring them awareness, but was placed on hold for 10 minutes, and no one came to phone. If you’re not busy focusing on quality control, why would you place a customer on hold that long? Now they have this review when they could have just acknowledged it over the phone.
