Disappointing Visit - Great Beer, Subpar Food
I've been to Bay State Brewing before and had a great experience with beers and appetizers, which makes this recent visit particularly disappointing. While the milk stout was excellent, the food quality was unfortunately well below acceptable standards.
Our party of five ordered various dishes, and nearly every item had significant issues: Mac and cheese was watery and barely edible (my daughter only managed two bites) The "shareable" pretzel was hard and stale rather than soft and fresh. We seriously had to saw it with a serrated knife! Two burgers were overcooked and flavorless (they didn't ask for cooking preference). My daughter volunteered pink, but the only pink on that plate was the ketchup! Nachos were stale and tasteless Onion rings were greasy and rubbery French fries were soggy and seemed old We asked for Coke's and received Pepsi's. You need to warn people about that, we don't like Pepsi (and yes, we were charged). They were out of lemonade.
The service was friendly and attentive, but there was no acknowledgment of the obviously uneaten food or any attempt to address the quality issues. When someone only takes two bites of their meal, it usually prompts at least a question about whether everything is okay.
For a $120 bill, (and only one alcoholic beverage in there!) the food quality was unacceptable. While the beer selection remains solid, I cannot recommend this place for dining based on this experience. I hope this was just an off day for the kitchen, given my previous positive experience, but I won't be returning to find out.
Positives: Good beer selection Friendly service Lots of parking
Negatives: Poor food quality across multiple (all) dishes Overcooked/improperly prepared items Stale/old-tasting ingredients Staff didn't notice the majority of the food was untouched $$$ for the quality received
Apologies I didn't...
Read moreToday me & my mom tried this restaurant with Grubhub and we order the food and everything almost went to the wrong address and finally I tried to run and the restaurant fix it! But she the delivery driver finally understood!!! But she got the person name wrong and told me his name is Joe!
It not Joe and his name is Jim and I know him all along and he was called Joe in the past but he changed his name and all the neighbors call him Jim all the time and they never call him Joe!!!

Read moreBay State Brewery is by far the absolute best brewery in Worcester. Other breweries in the city such as Greater Good, Redemption Rock, and Wormtown are miles behind Bay State.
How's their beer? I literally get more excited than a child on Christmas morning when they have a new beer on tap. I have never had a bad beer here. Some personal favorites include Kelley ^ 2, Becky Likes the Smell, and the Watermelon Lager (plz make this year-round, I will cry tears of joy).
How's their food? It out of this fudging world. It's cheap, the portions are HUGE, and it tastes so flipping good. If you go, you NEED to get the nachos (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). The cobb salad and the boneless chicken wings are beyond compare also.
Most importantly, the wait staff is beyond amazing. Every time I go, I am always greeting with an enthusiastic "Hello". I really like how the wait staff remembers me (I'm a regular if you can't tell) and asked me questions about how college is going (I'm a WPI Student).
I have been going to this brewery one or twice a week (sometimes three) since I turned 21 back in April. The amazing atmosphere, the out-of-this-world beer/food, and the phenomenal waitstaff makes this is the best brewery.
Thank you Bay State for making my life during this global pandemic much better. I promise I will return frequently even after I graduate in May. ...
