I'm kind of ambivalent about this review because the food is honestly quite good. I've been here several times and have really never been disappointed food-wise. Despite the general vibe and atmosphere clearly catering to a mostly non-Asian crowd (big bar in the center, trivia on Thursday nights, just generally not looking even remotely like an Asian restaurant lol, etc) the food is actually surprisingly quite authentic. Spice levels are also not at all toned down, which is also a pleasant surprise.
My main gripe is the incredibly inefficient server we got the last time we were there. I understand that the restaurant was semi-busy, but we waited tremendously long to get water, order food, and get our checks (~10 min each). She spilled some soup on our table while bringing out the entrees and took literally 15 minutes to bring napkins. Empty entree plates sat on our table while she just dropped off dessert and left without clearing anything. She was very pleasant but the service was just incredibly lacking, to the point where I'm a little hesitant to return, especially since Worcester is absolutely not lacking in solid Vietnamese food. I would also add though, that all of the other times I've been here the service...
Read moreWell, we first viewed it online and the menu that popped up. Even if trying to highlight the menu it wasn't readable on the computer screen. As we tried several times so we decided to go all out and visit it well. The broth with so much spicy had this taste to it. I brought it to the attention of a server. Just stared at me picked up. The bowl took it, brought it back. Not much different. Some of the vegetables were crunchy. Some of them weren't. I've been eating Vietnamese in Southeast Asian and Thailand food for a lot of years. Perhaps not an expert, but it's kinda. You know what to expect? It's kind of like going to McDonald's. You know what to expect to a degree? And it just wasn't there. We arrived properly shortly after 4 PM. And it seemed like they weren't quite ready. No I don't know what they do all day, but you know, to be there for 2 and a 1/2 hours having you know a quick dinner or whatever not exactly. Anyone's idea of hospitality, a fun night out or whatever? There are other places in Worcester county, West boylson street park Avenue that have as good. If not better food that's fresh, tasty and? They are open. For business and readily there...
Read moreOn a chilly and cloudy March evening, I was looking for a restaurant with flavorful and spicy food that I do not typically prepare at home. Mint Kitchen & Bar fulfilled my expectations with a delicious dinner at a very reasonable price. My Mr. Lychee cocktail was wonderful. I was reminded of how much I love the taste and texture of lychee fruit. For sure I will order a Mr or Miss Lychee cocktail again on my next visit. My husband ordered the Margarita Flight which we both enjoyed. Passionfruit and mango were our favorites. Our dinner started with a large serving of flavorful fried rice. The chilly weather led me to a great choice of Pho Ga, Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup. The hot spicy broth was what I needed. My husband was thrilled with his Cha Ca Thang Long “Thang Long” – style sizzling fish top with greens served with a sides of rice noodles, Romaine lettuce leaves, grated carrot, and perilla. Overall, our experience at Mint Kitchen &...
