Food: The high review ratings are accurate; I had the steak tacos with cilantro and onion. My boyfriend had a steak burrito he liked very much too. The wait time was quick. In the meantime, my boyfriend and I got our tortilla chips and salsa, with a cold but spicy salsa dip. It was a good spicy flavor that wasn't too bitter or overwhelmingly spicy. My tacos had a fair distributed amount of ingredients - that is, there was a fair ratio of onions and cilantro to my steak. The tacos were served with two limes, two radishes, a fork, and on double tortillas. The steak was easy to chew and cut up nicely (I've had steak at other places where I have to chew excessively or I'll risk choking on it). The onions on my tacos were surprisingly but satisfyingly on the sweeter side, instead of notably bitter. There is red salsa and green salsa. While I didn't try the red one, the green salsa was also spicy and not painfully overwhelming. My boyfriend and I just had glasses of water that came in glass mugs, but the mugs themselves were nice in themselves and were clean.
Service: The staff was very welcoming and kind to us. Our waiter was patient and checked in on us about two or three times to make sure everything was okay for us. She got our orders 100% accurately as well.
Atmosphere: The tables in the restaurant are spread out nicely. In terms of the temperature, it was cozy because it wasn't too cold nor too hot. There's also a TV with music videos playing in the background, but not excessively loud to the point you can't hear what those around you are saying. I really appreciated this because it's convenient not having to raise your voice and being able to have a flowing conversation with the person or people you're dining with. The colors of the restaurant are yellow and appealing to the eyes as well. You can also see the chef preparing and cooking the meals openly, which I admire for a couple of reasons - you can see how he's preparing your meal, and it is an authentic detail that tends to be the case in authentic Mexican restaurants; in other words, it reminds me of México. There is also a bathroom available at the far end to the left, just before the exit. It was clean and well-kept. In terms of the sink faucet to wash your hands, just pull the knob and the water will come out.
Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant to someone who wants to try authentic Mexican food in a cozy environment. I hope to return here again soon. I think I would go as far as to say this is one of my favorite...
Read moreThe server/manager Selena was not very helpful as to finding a solution to see if my $175 catering order could still be honored for the reward points. She stated that the machine is new and had been having issues and that it was just fixed last week. I figured since the machine was down, I could still receive the points from my order, which would entice me to continue coming and patronize your restaurant, and make future catering orders. She first asked when my order was placed as to make it seem that if it fell within the time frame the machine was down they could still honor it. I provided the date, only for her to proceed to tell me she didn’t know the exact date the machine was down. Then why ask me when I made the order? I asked to find out who the manager was, so maybe they could help to find out if my order could still be honored for points. She said she was the manager. I asked who was above her and she said the owners were. I asked if could reach them via phone or email. She gave me the restaurant email. I followed this by asking for the owners name so I can properly address my complaint to the person who’s going to read my email. She said she couldn’t provide the name…smh. She said the email will go directly to the owner…hopefully it does because she looked worried I wanted to reach out. It wouldn’t had bothered me so much, if she would’ve made an honest effort to at least look into it more and discuss it with the owners to see if I could still receive the points and had just given me a call to let me know with more of an better explanation than “I think we can’t”. She also rubbed me off the wrong way, as she looked very annoyed about all the question I asked nicely in trying to figure this all out. Hopefully the owner reaches out so we can discuss this poor performance by who is supposed to be...
Read moreOk. I don't write many reviews but my wife and I just left this place about 20 minutes ago and did not stop talking about it all the way home. The food (and portions), service, prices were nothing less than excellent. I had the steak empenadas dinner with a large horchata (cinnamon rice water). My wife had the Torta with a side of fresh guacamole and an horchata.
The dinner was served with two (2) HUMONGOUS empenadas (with an ingenious flaky corn crust stuffed with steak and cheese topped with sour cream and shredded Mexican cheese) , some delicious mexican rice and beans, and some salad. The horcharta was also the best I've had in years. Both the red and green salsa were tasty as well.
I was so impressed I spoke with the folks at the front counter (maybe they were the owners but I didn't ask) to let them know how my wife and I enjoyed their food. It was so good for such a small amount of $ that i had to tell them that they should raise thier prices a bit. They were so humble that i don't think they will do it so help me get the word out about this restaurant and staff. Let's support this small business establishment and keep them around for decades to come.
Since I don't feel they will be raising thier prices, let's get them a strong customer base...... YEAH IT WAS THAT GOOD!
AND THEY CATER FOR EVENTS!!! As a famous Arnold once said...
