Title: From Despair to Strength—MetaForm Gave Me My Life Back

Hello everyone. I’ve never written a Google review before, but this one is long overdue—because this place, these people, and this journey deserve to be heard.

I’m a 61-year-old mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I didn’t grow up with structure or tools for healthy living—physical, mental, or emotional. My recovery journey began at 41, and this year I’ll be celebrating 21 years of sobriety. For that, I give all glory to God.

But sobriety was only the beginning. I was still in pain—physically broken, emotionally shattered, and spiritually lost. At two years sober, I found myself hospitalized for a mental health breakdown. I had lost so many loved ones, including a granddaughter. I was on a bin full of medications I couldn’t even name. Doctors told me this was my lot in life. That I couldn’t. That I shouldn’t. That I wouldn’t.

I couldn’t walk up stairs, carry groceries, or speak without gasping. I was on disability. Food and TV were my comfort. I was told to accept a life of pain, medication, and limitation. And yet, I kept going—I even got a job helping others with mental health challenges, all while drowning silently in my own.

Then came 2016. I lost my apartment to vandalism and moved in with my daughter. I started to feel a little spark of hope again—until it was ripped away in 2019 when I lost my son. That grief nearly ended me. I spiraled. I gained more weight. My soul felt empty. I didn’t know how to live without him.

Then my daughter, already a MetaForm member, suggested I try the gym. At first, I thought—me? a gym? I had never worked out in my life. I thought gyms were for people who had it all together. Not someone like me, with grief, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and a body full of pain.

But I was desperate. I met with Roberto Melendez—and that conversation changed my life. I came in angry, grieving, guarded. I told him, “What makes you different from any other gym?” And instead of sales talk, he listened. He felt me. He shared his pain. For three hours, I cried, and he didn’t flinch. He held space for all of me—my story, my loss, my fire.

That day, something shifted.

Since then, I’ve lost 45 pounds. I’m off my psych meds, my cholesterol meds, and I’m no longer prediabetic. I carry my own groceries. I can walk and talk at the same time. I can fit on an airplane seat without shame. And I’m not just surviving—I’m thriving.

At MetaForm, I found a community. We sweat together, cry together, laugh together, and yes—we kick ass together. This isn’t just a gym. It’s a family.

Coach Kristal keeps me accountable with love and power. Coach Ce is a force of knowledge and compassion. Coach Carina is our Zumba magician, bringing joy to movement. And young Coach Jez? Wise beyond her years, uplifting and always pushing us to rise.

And then there’s Roberto—my grandson calls him “Mental Health Roberto,” and it fits. He saw me when I felt invisible. He reminded me that healing is possible at any age. He taught me I could still grow, still learn, still choose my life.

If you’re reading this and feel like you’re too far gone, too old, too broken—you are not. I am living proof.

I will always grieve. That doesn’t go away. But I grieve differently now. I move forward with strength, purpose, and joy.

They call me “Dal” at the gym—and yes, you’ll find me there, still pushing, still showing up, still grateful.

First GIVING ALL PRAISE TO GOD!!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY SETBACK AND PRAISING AND THANKING GOD AND MY METAFORM HEALTH AND FITNESS FAMILY FOR MY COME BACK!!!!! I HAVE TWO KNEE REPLACEMENT, SCREWS IN MY ANKLE UNFORTUNATELY IT MADE WALKING CHALLENGING. MY BODY REJECTED THE METAL IN MY KNEES AND I WAS TOLD JUST HAVE ANOTHER SURGERY IN MY MIND I WAS THINKING ITS HAVE TO BE ANOTHER WAY FOR ME TO BY PASS ANOTHER SURGERY. ONE DAY WHILE STROLLING ON SOCIAL MEDIA I CAME ACROSS AN AD FOR A 12 WEEK CHALLENGE TO GET FIT. I WAS THINKING HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH ALL THESE CHALLENGES FOR GETTING FIT. SO I DECIDED TO CALL JUST TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PROGRAM. THE YOUNG LADY THAT I SPOKE WITH ON THE PHONE ASSURED ME THAT IT WASN'T A SCAM IT WAS REAL. I MUST SAY SHE WAS VERY PLEASANT, HER TONE WAS EASY FOR THE EAR, AND HER PROFESSIONALISM WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH HER TO COME IN AND MEET WITH MR.ROBERTO THANK YOU COACH CEE!!!!!! WHAT CAN I SAY LIFE FOR ME AT THE TIME WAS LIFING WHEN I TELL YOU MR. ITS BEEN AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING JOURNEY THIS FAR. I NOTICE THINGS I COULDN'T DO FOR EXAMPLE, TRYING TO SIT ON THE FLOOR WAS DIFFICULT FOR ME I NEEDED ASSISTANCE JUST TO DO THAT. NOT ANYMORE I AM ABLE TO GET DOWN AND UP FROM THE FLOOR WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. Where to start? Before starting at MetaForm, I was the type of guy new year new me. No lie we all have there once or twice before or if you are like me, it’s been like 10 times. After the passing of mother and other things going on in life I turned over to over eating, drinking and smoking cigarettes. I was at the heaviest I have been in life. I knew something had to change for best of me. Even when I went to the barbershop I started realizing that I couldn’t fit the barbers chair anymore. After one night being on Facebook seen a ad for MetaForm decided to give them a try, I asked for more info. They contacted me the day after. Went in for a walk through with the coach Roberto. After the walk through and talking about the gym we counted to talk not about more gym stuff we talked about life on who, why, where, when and how. That open my ears, my mind and a glimpse of my future. For once in life in a long time I felt good to make the choice to moving forward for myself. This gym you are treated family not a number like other places I’ve too, like cheers the theme song (some times you wanna go where everybody knows your name, glad you came) that’s this place. I started with them back in Oct. 2022 and this have been the longest I’ve personally stayed going to gym making better food choices even stopped smoking cigarettes slowed down on the drinking. The coachs there are all ways happy, energetic, supportive just over all awesome. So far I’ve lost close to 50lbs and going and now they even when I go to the barbershop I fit comfortable in chair now. Just makes me wanna keep moving forward, I have never thought of doing them obstacle course races during the summer and now I giving it a thought of going forward it. All just because of my new life choice I made that day after talking to Roberto. I work as plumber going up and down with tools and materials was making super tired now I’m not at tired as I was before along with feeling and being stronger. The coaches there are fantastic even when you need to talk maybe not about gym stuff might be something going on in your life they are there for you to help you without knowing. This place is like no other place I’ve to yes other places have the same gym equipment but what they don’t have is the coaches that they have between Roberto and Kris they are some of the wholesomeness people you’ll ever meet in life and help guide you to the right direction in to a healthy life choice.
