SAD TO SAY AFTER 7 YEARS OF VISITING THIS ESTABLISHMENT, WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO RETURN. I wish I could give them 0 stars for this one. Myself and part of my friends have been loyal customers for over 5 years. This was our spot to visit after a stressful day at work, or a place to meet to discuss business or work through out the day, while enjoying a great meal and over priced drinks. We probably spent $100 - $300 (or more) 1 - 3 times a week. We have had some great experiences with the staff. The staff sometimes greets us already knowing our usual and they do an amazing job. However, we have had more than 1 unpleasant experience with the owner. Let me walk you through our last experience here. I was in a small sit down with a future leader in our company. The meeting went great. However, 2 of my peers showed up later on through out our discussion and pulled up 2 chairs. With no hesitation the owner approaches the table and asks, "did you check in with the host?". My peers let her know that they did not. She was extremely rude and asked, "did you not read the sign, you have to check in with the host when you walk in, you can't just pull up chairs." My peer informed her that we are constant visitors and we have not had to check in in the last 3 weeks." My peer apologized for pulling up the chairs and my other peer went to check in with the host. The owner yelled at her and told her to take her purse with her as she was walking away. My peer had already set the purse down on the chair. Now, because my peer had already walked away to speak to the host, she did not hear her. My other peer had to take the purse off the chair as the owner kept getting louder. The owner aggressively pulled the chair and replace it back from where they grabbed it. Mind you, it was probably 2 feet away from the table we were at. Not a minute later, the host walks up to us and says its not a problem, let me request some chairs to be brought up. (I wonder, would it have been easier to just replace the chairs that were taken from empty tables with the chairs in the back? There was no wait and there were plenty of chairs and empty tables. Instead, you rather yell at your customers that had just arrived.) The owner continues to inform us that we can not just pull up a chair when we arrive.
My peer informs her that she fully understands. However, the situation could have been handled differently. She let her know that a sign might not be enough for some customers. Sometimes customer might miss the sign. That is the purpose of the host. However, even if that is the case When the owner approached us, she could have addressed it politely. In our line of work, customer service is our main focus. The owner rudely walked away from her. As upset as we were, we tried to continue enjoying our dinner. We had another guest who was joining us, we informed the host so we would not have and issue once he arrived. They decided to move our table to allow for the 5th chair. As we are sitting down closer to the bar area. The owner is constantly making comments with what I assume are acquaintances of hers about her clients due to the loud noise coming from their tables. I couldn't help but be upset as this is a bar and grill restaurant and it was a Friday night. I would think as a bar owner, you would be able to conduct yourself with more professionalism as I am sure you have dealt with situations worse than these. Again, as a constant client at this restaurant, I have seen a lot more than just this experience that makes me cringe. Thanks for the...
Read moreWith heart ache I write this review as I am not one that focuses on the negative but rather choose to focus on the positive and in the good in people and if someone acts unkind and unprofessional I remind myself that I don't know what they are going thru and I am sorry for their hurt and pain.
My intention with this review is to provide coaching and awareness that we are all humans and deserve equal respect regardless of our skin tone and ethnicity. Specially as a business owner, as your establishment's doors are open to everyone.
As a Hispanic latina woman, I have experienced discrimination and I am very familiar and able to identify it. If you have ever experienced discrimination, you know exactly what it feels like. My experience while visiting this establishment this weekwnd was 100% discrimination against Latinos and Hispanics.
While visiting this establishment my daughter walked in with an outside drink, 32 oz ice coffee, the staff did not say anything to her/us, the rest of our party (7 guests) ordered $100.00 worth of drinks, which we were enjoying while patiently waiting to be seated. After 30 minutes of waiting to be seated, a staff member, who introduced herself as the establishment's owner, approaches my daughter in an intimidating loud tone and tells her literally to her face that she must drink her drink now as no outside drinks are allowed. My daughter acknowledges her comment and was drinking her drink as quickly as humanly possible, when she is shortly approached once again by the establishment owner demanding her to drink her drink now. The establishment owner's demanding tone, demeanor and body language resembled anger and frustration. I introduced myself to her, questioned the outside drink policy, and congratulated her on her business establishment while extending my hand to her, in which she refused to shake my hand and said "do you want the table or not".
I am disappointed of this establishment owner's values, lack of customer service, professionalism, and people skills. As such, I choose not to give my business to Deja Brew...
Read moreDeja Brew Bar & Grill is a fantastic restaurant that offers a unique blend of delicious food and a great atmosphere. Located in the heart of Oak Lawn, this restaurant is a great spot to visit for anyone looking for a tasty meal or a night out with friends. The menu is diverse and offers something for everyone. Whether you're in the mood for a classic burger or some tasty appetizers to share with friends, you're sure to find something you'll love here. One of the standout dishes on their menu for me was their steak street tacos. They were absolutely delicious! The dish was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of spice to give it a little kick. The steak used was cooked right and the addition of fresh diced onions and cilantro gave the dish a burst of freshness and the side of chips added a wonderful crunch. The tortillas had a soft and slightly chewy texture that complemented the steak filling perfectly. They were a real treat for my taste buds. While the food was fantastic, unfortunately, our experience with the waitress was not great. Despite being attentive to other tables, she seemed to forget about us more than once and left us waiting for long periods of time. This was disappointing as it detracted from an otherwise enjoyable meal. While our experience with the waitress was not ideal, let's not forget everyone has bad days, don't let this review discourage you from coming here. Deja Brew is an excellent restaurant that offers a fantastic dining experience with a diverse range of food options. The delicious food and cozy atmosphere make this restaurant a great spot to visit for a casual meal or a night out with friends. I'll for sure be coming here again and I would definitely recommend these...
