Very rude staff and they are racist! The evening shift on the second floor, including the manager were very unhelpful when I needed help the most! I have never been to a public library, and the staff will not help you. I asked for help with the printer, and the elderly white woman worker, was so nasty and dismissive to me. Then when my documents printed, in black & white, the toner was low, so my documents were blurry. The male worker stated he can re-print in color, with an attitude. The male worker re-printed in color, but then wanted to re-charged me. I asked to speak with manager, because the toner was not my fault. My documents were affected poorly by the printer. I asked manager if he can release my documents in color, without charging me or re-printing my documents in black & white from another printer. He refused, along with the rude staff. I had no more money to print again, because I spent it on printing the first documents..I only had my debit card, and they didn’t accept that. Definitely an inconvenience, because my documents were damaged and they were unwilling to assist me with correcting it, due to there printing toner. I would not recommend anyone to come to this library, unless they get new staff!!!! If I were a white woman, they would have definitely, re-printed my documents in color, and would not have blamed me. It was only sixty cents..It’s so sad that racism still exist. I had my toddler son with me, and hated he had to see and...
Read moreBeautiful Library, the children's librarians are always friendly and helpful. However the front desk where you check out the materials do not even know their own policy and can be rude. I come here often with my library card and today I forgot it, but showed my ID. It's funny they ask me if I'm from Chicago. Yes! But my card and my daughters are registered with Oak Lawn.
I forgot my card a few months ago and when I showed them ID, and was allowed to take out books. This time they said wait let me ask my manager if you could check out without card. Shouldn't they know that already? So good thing is they (no longer) fine for materials not returned so don't worry if you lost materials or don't return them. And I'd they block you from taking out oh well, other libraries to go to. The boy at the front desk is moody and I'm not the one. This library is not welcoming to non- oak Lawn residents and it'll be my last time going there. I live in Beverly so I'll go to that library from now on. It's smaller but less hassle and good...
Read moreThey do have great books for kids. Nice place fo your children to come read, the playground in the back is nice for the littles. As far as the staff, I can take them or leave them. One blonde (bleached) lady told me I had to "watch my kid". Certain people think they're the police, when they should mind their own business. I checked her so fast, it's the library what are they gonna do? Respect people's cultures and how they choose to parent. I don't put my child on a leash. Children are entitled to their space and to walk around, within visual distance of their parents of course. This world is definitely not for paranoid folks. Take your anxiety meds lady. I don't intimidate, so...
