the Panera in oak lawn ill is bad -bad service, twice I ordered over the phone and twice they screw up the order. last time I was on the phone for over 7 minutes to order 5 items which is a long time to ask me over and over again about the order in which I called from my cell phone ,it shows me the time-to be exact it was 7minutes and 39 sec.They told me to pick it up in 15 minutes, I arrived at Panera 35 minutes later went to pay at the register, had a free 10 dollar gift card ,gave him the gift card then he told me my balance is 19 dollars and change then I gave him our 50.00 gift card -balance was around 30.00 dollars, then i went to pick up my order at the pick up counter, the lady manager called my name and then I realized the man at the counter forget to give me my 50.00 gift card back.I told the lady manager she said let me check it out, she came back and told me she asked the man at the counter and he said YOU NEVER GAVE HIM A GIFT CARD. I SAID HOW CAN THIS BE POSSIBLE WHEN THE RECEIPT SHOWS A 30 DOLLAR BALANCE I asked to see a manager and explained this to him . HE WENT TO CHECK IT OUT CAME BACK TO ME AND TOLD ME HE DID NOT NOW WHAT HAPPENED, I TOLD HIM DID THE GIVE CARD JUST GET UP AND WALK AWAY. NO ANSWER FROM THE MANAGER, I THEN TOLD HIM GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK- THEY GAVE ME MY 50 DOLLARS BACK. THEN I TOLD THEM TO TAKE YOUR FOOD BACK-- I DO NOT WANT IT, YOU CAN KEEP IT, I DO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH YOU PEOPLE EVER AGAIN-- I EVENTUALLY TOOK THE FOOD BECASE IT WAS GETTING LATE AND MY FAMILY DID NOT EAT SO THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS GIFT CARDS HAVE WINGS AND THEY WANT TO KEEP THE MONEY THAT YOU SPENT .STAY OUT OF THE OAK LAWN STORE - A BUNCH OF BONE HEADS RUN THIS STORE AND YOU CANT EVEN GET A ORDER OVER THE PHONE RIGHT. Upon arriving home, I discovered that my order was incorrect, and my customizations were completely ignored. I promptly called the store to report the issue, only to be told that my only option was to return to the store so they could remake the order.
When I arrived back at the location, the staff remade my food but displayed a dismissive attitude. They handed me the corrected order and told me to throw out the original food. I asked if I could keep it or at least show them the mistake as proof, but their response was simply, āJust throw it out.ā
There was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused by their mistake. No effort was made to rectify the situation beyond remaking the order, which I had to waste time and fuel to retrieve. Worse yet, when I got home with the remade order, it was just as badāif not worseāthan the original. The bread was excessively thick, with barely any meat. It felt like the staff intentionally made the second order poorly, as if they were upset that I had returned to have them fix their mistake.
This level of service, paired with their wasteful approach to handling errors and their careless preparation of food, was unacceptable. Panera needs to improve how they handle customer concerns, train their staff to prepare food correctly, and ensure that customers feel valued. This experience has made me seriously reconsider visiting this location...

My family & I are feeling sick this week & the soup definitely helped along with their papaya green tea, soothing on the throat even when itās cold . The portion sizes could be a bit larger for the price .. however if you have the money to spend on Panera, itās pretty worth it . I donāt eat here often just because itās a bit pricey for the portions you get . But the food is good . For reference I had ordered the pick two - Mac n cheese (small) & half chipotle chicken avocado melt, a bowl of broccoli & cheddar soup, the papaya green tea, and a full chipotle chicken avocado melt . My total was just under $40 . Iām sure there are other places you could get more food than that for $40 however youāre essentially paying for the quality here, not the quantity . Employees were very nice & helpful . Although the ladies by the pickup counter werenāt alerting anyone that their order was ready .. they had the receipts on the bags facing away from customers & they were too far back for anyone to reach to turn them around & check the names . My food was ready & right in front of me & didnāt get it until I asked if it was ready .. just constructive criticism, maybe call out the names as the orders come out ?
