My friend and I came in this evening, admittedly late, to see if we could order food to go. The hostess greated us and immediately said that they couldn't seat anyone because they would be closing at 10:30. I told her we were hoping to order to go if that was an option and she handed us a menu so we could. She was very bubbly and had a very warm and inviting personality. We asked a few questions about different things on the menu and she was very helpful and making small talk with us as we tried to decide between our final dish when her manager came around the corner. The manager asked her what she was doing. (But not in a way where you're actually asking, but more so condescending.) She quickly explained that we weren't planning to dine in but were ordering to go. The manager then said are you cooking the food? (Again, in a rude tone.) We collectively had an awkward laugh, unsure if the manager was joking. The manager then said that all of the cooks already left so who was going to make the food because she wasn't going to make it. She's saying all of this in front of me and my friend. The hostess apologizes to her saying she didn't know they had left and thought they could take orders until 10:30. The manager said no then turns to us and says sorry and that the hostess should have known that we couldn't order. My friend and I both say that it's okay and that we didn't realize their kitchen was closed but we would come back at a later time or even tomorrow. The manager said no, the hostess should have known better and just kept bringing it up on how she should've done better. We told her it was really okay, just trying to defuse the situation because she came out so aggressively. We took a menu with us and I told the hostess they she was fine, we weren't upset, and thanked her because she was so kind. We walked outside and stopped for a moment (I had an eyelash in my eye and was trying to get it out haha) when we could see the manager SCREAMING at the hostess. I literally asked my friend if we should go back in because this MANAGER was being absolutely DISGUSTING towards her staff. We decided not to go back in because she seemed like the kind of person that the situation would only get worse. The manager walked off to the side and started texting somebody but was facing away from the hostess so I waved at the hostess and mouthed that I was sorry for causing the situation. She smiled at me, clearly not wanting us to feel bad, and just mouthed back that it was okay and for us to have a good night. I smiled and waved at her again but the manager saw us I guess waving bye to her and WENT BACK to the hostess stand and started yelling at her! Her body language alone was so aggressive. Honestly, my friend and I would've come back, even after the misunderstanding, because that hostess was PEAK customer service. But that manager's behavior was absolutely disgusting and I feel sorry for anyone working there under her. Let me be perfectly clear, this was my FIRST time there and my VERY NEGATIVE impression of this establishment is entirely because of that's...
Read moreZero stars, horrible food and horrible service. Go eat at Chi Tung. Do not eat here I wish I would of read the reviews first. I ordered food from Sushi Thaime for the first and last time. I looked online and saw the menu which looked good. I decided to support a local business also try something new. I ordered Thai chicken rice and beef fried rice pot stickers and some sushi. Picked up my order was not hot but okay sushi in same bag as hot food okay!? Get home hungry about to eat the beef fried rice which is white over cooked rice that still has water in it, beef not cooked chewy none of the vegetables listed in the menu were in the rice and the rice wasn’t cooked with the meat or vegetables it was just thrown on top nothing about that was fried rice. The Thai chicken rice online says it’s cooked with Thai sauce with pea pods tomato’s all other vegetables had none and was just over cooked white rice with a lot of tumeric seasoning powder chicken thrown on top a couple ripped up vegetable pieces raw thrown in. The pot stickers were soggy and not good. The sushi roll was horrific like eating a beef jerky. So three of us put it in our plate to eat it and it was horrible we just couldn’t the sushi was chewed and spat out rice was left on our plates and half bitten pot stickers, so I called told I had to bring in food for a refund because this was not what I ordered. I was already mad because I had to drive back. Went to return the food was treated rudely by the owner. Confronted her for false advertising and she said all the food isn’t here and I am not getting refund. I told her everything is here but what we throw out which I was not going to go through our garbage for. The reason why I wanted a refund because it was not what I ordered not only was it bad it was not what I ordered from their menu. That’s how bad it was to have me return the food. When I got there the owner refused to give refund and asked me to get the stuff out of the garbage to bring back and treated me very rudely and when I asked why do they advertise a different product her response is that’s how they make it. Luckily I Used the voice memo app on my phone to record the worker saying I would get a refund , and all the derogatory comments the owner was making and admitting to serving totally different items then on the menu. Left my food there. ...
Read moreSadly I've got to post a bad review on this restaurant. For over years I've been dining and ordering food for pick up. I'm going back to when they use to own Sesame Inn. That location used to be way better in food quality and service than the competitor, Wu's, right across the street.
Sadly the past 2 years, Sushi Thaime's food quality has lowered drastically. Their sushi is never firm anymore. The rolls are always falling apart as you try to grab them. The noodles are always drowning in oil. It feels like you're eating noodle soup.
Just last week I had the worst of the dining experiences. I ordered a coconut soup. The soup looked as if it had a teaspoon of coconut milk only. There was no way the soup was well made. Especially since I've had coconut soup at other locations and non looked as watery as Sushi Thaime's soup did. I kindly let the female owner know that we didn't like the soup and she aggressively responded that she was not going to refund us the money. She became very offended and said that her soup was not disgusting and that we didn't know what it was supposed to taste or look like. I believe she meant to say that because we are Latinos and not Asian. She was very offensive and racist. Such pathetic behavior especially when the main clientele at this restaurant are Latinos and African Americans. The majority of her Evergreen Park clientele followed her restaurant. Such pity!
An owner should never ever react this way no matter if you are offended by a person not liking the food or service. We never asked for a refund but rather a replacement of soup. She made us pay for both the coconut and egg drop soup which we had to re-order because she was so indignantly offended.
As a customer in my right, we had the opportunity to leave without paying especially since we had not begun eating our main meal. But we most definitely NEVER COME BACK to spend our hard-working money at a place with such disrespect.
I'm sure they will soon go out...
