I was really excited to try this place after I heard about it. I am generally a fan of Cowiche Creek and thought that I would probably like this one as well. The interior is amazing, they really went for that big city bistro look and pulled it off nicely. Staff was extremely courteous and attentive. The place was packed so I opted to get our dinner to go. We tried to get a little of everything so we could get a good idea of what they have to offer. For an appetizer we had the pork belly steam buns. They were small but they actually ended up being my favorite part of the meal by far. Great mixture of flavors and textures. After those our expectations for the rest of the food was very high. We tried 2 entrees, the Special Fried Rice and the Pad Thai. The fried rice was definitely overcooked and had bits of rice that were completely dried out as if it had been under a warmer. Not unheard of but unexpected at $18 a plate. Seasoning wise it was very bland. The predominant flavor came from the egg. Not horrible but definitely not something I would go out of my way to get again. Next we tried the Pad Thai. A pretty common dish but for me it's a great way to get an idea of where the chef is going. I don't know what his or her intentions were but they definitely missed the mark. Other then having the correct kind of noodle in the dish I would be shocked if anyone would be able to peg it as Pad Thai. Very little peanut flavor and I swear it was just doused in sweet chili. Again, I have nothing against sweet chili sauce, I just expected more of a from scratch sauce for the price I paid. All together it wasn't horrible and maybe my experience was marred by it being so soon after opening and eating on a Saturday but in the end I felt very disappointed with the quality of our meals and even more so of the $70 it...

You might be saying Alex if the food is good why the bad rating? Honestly if you're going to dine in and you go early and have a reservation you'll probably enjoy your meal.
Go later they might run out of food. go without a reservation expect a giant wait time.
There was a lot wrong with our last few experiences here so if youre more the type to enjoy a meal somewhere besides the restaurant as I am, this might not be the place for you. I tipped generously and i feel spat in the face.
The problem tonight in particular caused a domino effect of bad things which is why I probably will not return.
Yes i understand the place was busy and that steps were taken to correct the issues that arose. But i sent my order to the manager 30+ minutes before arriving and it was another 15 before my order was placed. They say 30ish minutes to wait for my order. Over an hour goes by before my order is done and even then i didnt get the food i ordered. I got substitutions and didnt even have time to argue because people were counting on that food elsewhere. We ate the food. It was delicious to me, not others.
So much could have been prevented if 1) they had been true to their communicated time, 2) they had put my order in sooner, or 3) from the start their own communication was off because the person at the store said one thing and the manager via messenger said another.
You know that bad taste or smell you can’t quite get rid of and it lingers? That is our...
Read moreMy husband and I visited on November 30th as part of our wedding anniversary celebration. We did not have a reservation and when we were greeted they asked if we would like to sit in the bar area. The bar area is a long counter with high stool/chairs. This is not the vibe we wanted for our dinner. The seating area on the other side was only 1/2 full. Then the manager came over and again asked us about bar seating, two more times. At this point I was frustrated and suggested that we just leave. I also made it clear to the staff that we were there for our anniversary and didn't want to sit at the bar. We did eventually get a table for two.
The menu is what I would call Asian fusion and the waitress suggested 1 or 2 appetizers and 1 or 2 entrees to share between the two of us. We ordered the Pork Belly steamed buns for our app. They were OK but the pork was not really rendered fully and so was not super crispy. We also ordered Spicy Peanut Noodles and Banh Mi to share for entrees. Our favorite was the noodles. The Banh Mi was just OK. There is not mention on a way to increase the spiciness of a dish which would be nice. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk which was really good and Tora Unhinged that was so bad he couldn't even finish it. The best part of the meal was the Mango Sticky Rice.
Overall it was just an OK experience and really not worth the expensive price tag. There are other options in Yakima that taste much better. Maybe there will be improvements...
