*My response to the owner’s response: The first person to arrive did arrive at 7 AM to request a table at 8 AM. Not once did she expect to be sat for one hour. You must have misunderstood her. There was absolutely no harassment on our part. I encourage you to post the video surveillance footage to prove that. Maria approached the table, I rose to give my feedback. At that point Maria called us disrespectful women in Spanish and stormed off. Feeling humiliated and discriminated against, the entire party got up to leave using the back door. Only I approached a waiter to notify him that we were leaving so they could cancel our food order. I was then approached by Maria who led me to a nook to talk. After she kept talking over me, I told her I was leaving since this conversation was not leading anywhere.
We were long time customers and had experienced poor service before and even then kept trying to support your business. You state your policy about not seating large parties. This policy does not apply to everyone. For example, your investors and your family receive preferential treatment. Once before you allowed your own family to skip the line and be sat before us even though we’d been waiting longer. You told us your Mom shouldn’t have to wait. We respected your decision and continued to support you.
When it comes to the comment about my volunteer work, I expressed my desire to support small businesses. As an unpaid volunteer I always strive to treat people fairly and provide the best service possible. My track record working with small business speaks for itself.
The people who have posted reviews are all real customers that were there that day. They have the right to share their experience as you said yourself in person. You deleted those comments and blocked us from FB.
We just had a terrible experience while trying to celebrate Mother’s Day at Main Stop. We planned for an 8 AM breakfast with a large party of moms. One of the members of the party arrived at 7 AM to ensure we’d receive a table by 8 AM. She emphasized the party was expected at 8 AM. This was based on a Facebook post saying it was first come, first serve - no reservations allowed. She asked to sit at the table a little bit earlier to drink coffee while the party arrived at 8 AM. She was told she could not be sat at the large table until the entire party was there. Our party was sat at approximately 8:05 AM. A couple that arrived after us was already sitting at a large table as their party trickled in slowly and were not all there until after 8:20 AM. We immediately noticed the difference in service. The couple behind us were already sipping on coffee. Our party was not offered coffee as is customary in many breakfast restaurants even after 10+ minutes of sitting there. When I made a comment to the waitress about my observation she told me the owner would come talk to me. When the owner came over, I politely explained our experience, in Spanish she told me that we were a group of disrespectful women and stormed off as I tried to respond to her. At that point we decided to leave after feeling humiliated and discriminated against. I approached the owner to tell her we were leaving but she continued to talk over me and hardly let me get a word in. She tried to justify the difference in service in both parties due their relationship to the restaurant (she said the couple were investors in her restaurant). I explained the appearance of unequal treatment was explicit and we would have accepted that explanation. Instead, she chose to be rude to me and stormed off. She gave me an “apology” full of excuses, called my family liars and continued to talk over me. She justified the treatment we experience based on her experience with past customers completely unrelated to us.
I’m a proponent of supporting small business but not to the point of being humiliated. If you want an alternative to Main Stop, visit Waffles Cafe. We were sat within 15 minutes, offered coffee immediately and received fresh food quickly. Safe yourself the heartache of...
Read moreIll start by saying I look forward to coming again. The food was overall quite yummy and the staff were right to business while maintaining a warmth in service.
My wife had the eggs benny, one egg was perfect and the other needed 30 seconds. (The only reason why not 5 stars...On our next trip back I'm sure Main Stop will get it back)
I would like to draw attention to the dish I had, which I found exceptional in comparison to all other breakfast foods I have had in my time, the loaded burrito. There is a level of creativity or audacity to whoever cooked this thing up. On the outside its just another 14 inch tortilla, on the inside is a most wonderful combination of morning desirables...this is where the genius comes. Buried and surrounded by eggs, jalapeños and bacon, like a caterpillar in a chrysalis, are stuffed hashbrowns!!! Insanity! And just like the butterfly that emerges after fully maturing, flying and delighting those that look upon it, the loaded burrito makes one feel obligated to be happy with each bite. There is not fighting of the ingredients for who shall shine, together they deliver a symphony of flavor!
If this is your first time here and you have brought an appetite, you must order the loaded burrito. While I upon returning will painfully explore the rest of the menu, knowing if I choose anything else, will miss out on the best damn breakfast burrito I have ever had.
Update: came back with fam and went sweet instead of savory. Stuffed French Toast with peaches. Absolutely delicious. All eggs cooked to expectations of the wife. Earned...
Read moreI really loved it there! I had only been to the old place once but still had a great time, their food is amazing, and although some days it gets busy (as it should) i had no problem with the wait! I really love the newer building they are in now though, it’s so fun when the train goes by. I’m a vegetarian and their food choices for me are amazing, usually when i go somewhere i only expect to see one thing i can have, but i had lots of delicious looking and sounding ones there! I even got some pomegranate juice to see what it tasted like, i didn’t like it that much, it was quite sour but i did still love it and it was one of my favorite experiences there since i’ve never even heard of pomegranate juice. I’ve also had their breakfast and lunch! I love their french toast, it’s very fluffy and soft, and very tasty! The next dish i got was pancakes! I was very happy when i asked for no butter on it too, since i don’t like butter, they actually didn’t put it on like i asked! i understand most stores are busy and can’t do that often. But even though they were busy they still did it for me! After the pancakes for lunch i got the caprese sandwich, and it was very good! It has some nice sweetish vinegar sauce that i really loved, and the cheese was so good with the lettuce and some spinach! The people there were really nice too, and were very helpful and honest with their suggestions for food! I love that they also were willing to actually tell me how long it might be instead of making me wait while thinking it will be less time. Thank you...
