4.5 stars here only because the cost to value ratio wasn't good. another chance to enjoy some fresh east coast seafood. nicely nautically decorated place with a lovely view of the marina. quickly seated and brought waters. server was personable if a bit slow. we saw a couple of young people definitely involved in training so they are gearing up for the coming season. wide ranging menu including some non seafood options. raw bar, fish tacos, salads, and baked & fried seafood. plus the ubiquitous lobster roll. broke my normal pattern and chose to start with a pina colada that was nicely done but $14! not even ordered with a top shelf alcohol. crazy IMO. chose to start here with a cup of lobster corn chowder ($8). wonderful flavor and thickness. great depth of flavor with the lobster and the corn coming through clearly. definitely could have enjoyed more of this. then headed straight for the entrees. my wife went off the seafood choices and went with the burrata salad ($16). a beautiful ball of burrata served on arugula with crispy prosciutto, heirloom tomato, fresh torn basil, plus olive olive oil and balsamic drizzle. this dish could not have looked or tasted better. she is a hard graded and she loved this dish. the grilled swordfish filet entrée ($32) with roasted potatoes and summer peach salsa sounded delicious. and indeed it was. grilled perfectly and a nice portion. salsa was flavorful but more like sliced/chunks of peaches than a traditional salsa. did complement the dish nicely though. small yellow potatoes roasted tender and flavorfully seasoned. potatoes are not my preferred side to go with fish but i enjoyed these. finished our visit with a slice of carrot cake ( $12) which was pretty good but we've had many better. despite all the outstanding food, the cost of the meal before tip-almost $88-was outside my feeling of getting my money's worth. your mileage may vary.

My friend and I were visiting Hyannis Cape Cod for the weekend and I really was looking forward to having a Lobster and some good clam chowder, since I’m visiting from Florida. Decided to give Tugboats a try. Arrived at Tugboats, was greeted by valet, was seated outside in the patio area, with a wonderful view and it was a great vibes initially and I was going to order my clam chowders and lobster! Was seated for about 10 mins or so and our waitress Heather T comes to the table and you can feel the energy shift. She never introduced herself or said “hello”, “hi”, “welcome” no greeting at all. Just “what do want?”. I asked the cost for Tugboat Margarita (no price listed on the menu) she said “I don’t know the price on the top of my head” and said “it’s probably like $15-$20” I was stunned with her attitude and by her answer. So we placed our drink order and immediately I was not feeling it anymore. Heather T. returned 10 min after placing our drink order, with our drinks, still never mentioning the cost of the drink and plus margarita was not good, It was plain. Heather then mentions the kitchen is closing in 10 min, so we had to hurry up and order and no mention of this when she came to our table the first time. I really wanted to return my drink and leave, but my friend talked me out of it since we were on vacation. I did not order my lobster and clam chowder, due to how I was treated. I ordered another dish, cause I really did not want to spend my money on an expensive meal to be treated like crap. Heather T had a attitude and has no customer service skills, she really put a damper on my experience that I was looking forward too. I’m more upset at my self for spending the money I did spend, this is the meal i got there and it was overpriced. I will not recommend. Bad service!

I can’t remember ever making a review before, but I feel obligated to after my poor experience at the tugboat. The food was good. The service and atmosphere was very poor. A man who appeared to be the owner was taking cell phone calls and yelling to the staff “I need a table for 8 or someone’s getting fired”. We heard wait staff walking by saying “I hate this place” and we understand why. As we were trying to enjoy our food staff was carrying chairs and tables over people eating constantly, appearing to try and make more tables after being barked at by the owner “Ted”. We saw a man get struck by a table in the head while he was eating. The staff had no room to operate so I don’t blame them for bumping people. We felt rushed to order our food and had to ask for silverware to eat. We got dessert to go because we couldn’t stand to be in the tugboat another minute. When we got home we opened up our dessert which was a sliver of a piece of cake you could eat in 2 bites. It may hold the record for the smallest piece of dessert ever sold in a restaurant. Very disappointed. A 1 out of 10 overall experience. Unfortunately, we won’t be back to the tugboat. I attached a photo of my tiny dessert a piece broke off when I picked it up, but you get the idea.

I have given this place a few chances, it's always something... last time we went the server placed our food on another parties table (they actually ate a few French fries) when they realized it wasn't theirs, the server went back to the table picked the food up and brought it directly to our table... until I said something.

(Note: I didn't want to come to this place again, my wife's aunt and uncle wanted to try it)

Tonight me and my wife were meeting her aunt and uncle out for dinner, the restaurant was empty... it was 610pm we were meeting them at 615. We decided to get a table, we didn't have reservations (we didn't need them as it was empty) we asked to be seated and we were told by the hostess that the full party needed to be there to be sat and that we would have to wait in the bar.

I asked the owner of the restaurant if we could just sit and order a drink and an appetizer that our other 2 ppl in the party will be there in 5 mins. He said sorry it's against our policy (I could understand if there was a large party, not only 4 ppl when all the tables seat 4ppl.)

I asked him what the difference was if me and my wife came in alone and asked to be sat, He was extremely rude (just like when i complained about the server and the half eaten food) he said that we would be sat at one of the tables with 4 chairs... I asked him to explain the difference... he said that it is just his policy. I then asked him if me and my wife could just say that it's just us and have them sit with us when they show up, he said "that's not happening!" I then told him that we would be having dinner somewhere else and left.

First of all, I would stay clear of this place for the obvious cleanliness and sanitary issues... one stated above. Also because the owner has to be one of the worst I have ever seen. I still don't understand if a restaurant is empty why 2 ppl out of a party of 4 can't be sat... maybe it's just me.

The food is mediocre at best and the prices are sky high... your definitely only coming to this place for the view of the marina, which you can have equally nice views at about 2000 restaurants on cape cod!

I hope this helps you make a better restaurant...

We arrived and were told a forty-five minute, wait. They gave us a table about that time later. So we were very happy.Nice table outside. Then the trouble started. We were 2 couples, and our friends shared a salad. We had an order of the Bang bang Bang shrimp to share the salad came. But the shrimp did not come until ten minutes after we asked the waitress why she said.Well, salads are faster and we thought that was ridiculous, because that was going to be both of our appetizers and we want to eat at the same time. Then we waited and waited and waited. A full 45 minutes after ordering. We asked to serve where our food was. She said he'll be out shortly 10 minutes later. Nothing we asked one of the the busboys to please get the manager. The manager came over. We explained what was going on. He said, "Let me look into it." Another 5 minutes passed. It was now 1 hour and 10 minutes since we had placed our order for the main course. It was completely unacceptable, so we just walked out. I left $20 on the table to pay for the drink. And the shrimp and the salad. My friends left the same $20 as we were walking out. One of the managers came over with a tray of food, saying, "Your food is here." I want to comp for you so you can enjoy your meal. I said, "Do you think after waiting this long Im going to enjoy a lobster? Sorry. This place is not for us, and you can't run a restaurant this way. I'm used to restaurants being slow. I understand that, but this is just ridiculous. We're paying top dollar now. They're charging us credit card fees and everything else. And we're paying huge tips because the bills are so much higher and these restaurants just don't staff themselves properly. Don't have the right kitchen size for the number of tables that the place has. So I'm giving this place a one because we had a horrific experience. I will never return and just be wary. All the restaurants in Cape Cod have this ridiculous. No reservation policy, making you wait anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a 1/2 not acceptable when you're...
