Bill's Drive in — Restaurant in Ypsilanti Charter Township

My wifes cousin talked it up as a cool spot she read about on the way to Mackinac Island from Ohio. They made their own root beer. We arrived and the place is well kept, clean and easy access off the road. i assumed we had to go up and order and a young man in a tigers hat came over to greet us and offered a menu. cool car service. nice. it seemed like opening time around 11am. and it wasnt busy but suddenly cars started showing up and the kid was running. i thought he'd get tied up but came back over.they are quick here. I was dropping off cousins and my wife to get in another SUV and asked menu questions. they have hot dogs and ground beef in dog buns. i got 2 chili dogs and a quart of root beer to get on the road. prices are very reasonable and under 10.00. i flipped him a 5.00 tip for excellent service and hustle. the dogs were good and chili sauce tasted good. the root beer was cold and smooth and full bodied. Alright if you live in Michigan and love hotdogs there is no better place period considering it is only one of two establishment's we are lucky to have it. I've been going here for almost 30 years and will continue to go here for the foreseeable future. I have a uncle that lives up north and he has us buy them freeze then ship then to him so if that doesn't say something I don't know what does. The hotdogs are quality as is the root beer they are always soft (due to the way they are made) and the chilli is excellent. Also for those that don't know it's a drive up they come to your vehicle take your order and bring it to you. They also ONLY ACCEPT CASH so save yourself some time and stop at a ATM before going. I've actually always said Ypsilanti may not be what is used to but it still has excellent places to eat. You'll have to check my other reviews to find out where else but...

Terrible customer service! I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now because it was unique stand and the food was alright, but I will never return after my last visit.

I ordered 4 B-Dogs (Hotdog w/ ground beef) and received 4x loose burgers (ground beef in a hotdog bun). When I brought this to the attendant’s attention he lied and said I ordered B’s not B-Dogs which doesn’t exist I think he was trying to make up something at this point….

I said I always order the same thing and this was not right. He then asked if I wanted to order 4 more, to which I replied no, I didn’t want to have to pay for 4 more since it was not my mistake. He then said “Sorry” and walked away!?!? Really?? You’re telling me that your margins are so slim on hotdogs you can’t replace a messed up order??
