Terrible service on 6/28/24 all around and it impacted the food. From the get-go I was ignored when I walked in and others were seated and their orders were taken right away. Mind you, they were not busy. All tables already had food and there were about 5 open tables in this little place. The waitress avoided eye contact and blatantly checked on every table, refilling coffees and chit chatted before coming to our table. There was also a host to help, so seating should've been immediate. Her excuse was, "oh I thought you were with other people and I didn't see you" (2 different excuses at once). No apology, personality or manners.
Then I sent my cocktail back- the Strawberry Lime Mule- because it tasted like it didn't have vodka in it and it was all ginger beer. The waitress told me they don't have a liquor license so it's a wine-based vodka. She assured me there were 2 shots of vodka in it. First of all, what is a business doing serving Mules and other cocktails without a liquor license? If that's the case, they should only have beer and wine on the menu. Pretty sure that doesn't align with the rules of Alcohol Beverage Control, or is, at the least, false advertisement. Second of all, if I don't like a drink, don't come back to the table and try to sell me on it to force me to buy something that was falsely advertised. No where on the menu does it say "made with a wine-based vodka". She compared it to sake. I ordered a $12 mule... not sake or a ginger beer.
To top it off, I ordered crispy hashbrowns and they were raw on the bottom and barely cooked on top. The sourdough pancake was good on the edges but undercooked in the middle. It wasn't a griddle problem either as other tables had appetizing looking hashbrowns and crispy sourdough pancakes. It felt like she had intentionally not told the cooks our specifications. Furthermore, the toast was not toasted, with a thoughtless glob of congealed margarine squished into the very center.
Putting the food, that was not made as requested, and weak cocktail aside, the rude attitude and blatant poor service left the worst taste in my mouth. We will not be back until I hear about a staff turn over. Ive always liked going there for the sourdough pancakes. I miss the Sundowner! The waitstaff was no-nonsense and blunt but consistent with all customers and you got exactly what you ordered. She didn't treat people unfairly for personal gain. What happened to good service? I would sum up this waitstaff experience as entitled and intentionally rude. I waited tables off and on for about 10 years, was a service manager, and I know when someone is going out of their way to do a poor job. That said, I generally empathize with waitstaff and I am hesitant to complain-especially if they're busy. I wouldn't even be writing this review if the staff had had manners. If I was managing that staff, I would give a warning and if the behavior continued, I'd send 'em packing. With the cost of going out to eat these days, people pay for a good service experience. Do better,...
Read moreHorrible service from server with with shoulder length blonde hair. The tab said her name was Veronica, but I don't know if that is actually her. We waited 20 mins trying to flag her down to get our order and she never once looked at us or acknowledged us. We got another servers attention and she said the original server would be right with us (even though they share tips). The original server kept taking to go orders before us and helping other people who walked in and she finally made eye contact with my mother who said "what are you doing?" The server then starts arriving and raising her voice at us from across the restaurant. She comes over to the table and tells us we COULD HAVE JUST LEFT. Since we were being "rude" to her. She has time to argue of course but not get our order.....nice. I told her nobody is being mean to her and she continued to argue and raise her voice in front of all the other customers and staff. I have never seen a server be so horrible and yell at a table and call the table rude for waiting on her to even acknowledge them. Won't be coming back to this restaurant because she is a psycho and honestly killed my appetite. By the way she said she was complaining because there were two servers for about 9 or 10 tables.....When we walked in,half the tables were already eating. Sorry you're not a good server hunny bunny and you dont have the right to yell at paying customers. I also forgot to say that the other servers that helped us after her freak out were very kind and they all wore their face masks due to COVID19 while the problematic server was the only one that had hers down the whole time...
Read moreAbove and beyond expectations. Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning, arrival time 9:30am. Visit was a type of family reunion, and we were not really cognizant of having been there 1.5 hrs...kudos to them: they never made us feel uncomfortable for being a table hog, albeit unintentionally.
Spanish omelette made with homemade salsa (not very spicy, but authentic and not from a can, and... more importantly...NOT sweet), with fresh tomatoes, onions, bell peppers lightly seasoned. Filling with all the protein and yummy goodness, without overdoing on the days. Sausage was spicy, and just enough to flavor, not enough to regret later. Truly a delight.
English muffin well toasted was actually well toasted, and they remembered to put the real butter on the side.
I'm not a hash brown person, but I did an obligatory taste and found them agreeable - for hash browns. Meaning, not too mushy or starchy.
Prices and variety were PERFECT. Not too much variety, but something for every size and type of pallet, with a variety of prices to fit just about any wallet. My sister got the light eater avocado toast with bacon and egg for under $5; my omelette was under $9.
Ambiance was great - plenty of good sized tables, decor simple but soothing, wait people pleasant and helpful. Literally the only thing even slightly negative I could say is that I had to ask for refills...but it was the busiest hour of their busiest day, probably. I regret giving such a positive review though....I hope to still find a seat the...
