The food wasn't terrible, but met with pretty bad service. This was a major let down. The waiters are lacking in etiquette and training; they make frequent mistakes taking orders, they deliver appetizers and main courses at the same time, they pile dishes and silverware in the middle of the table instead of properly placing them in front of each customer, lastly they refuse to make eye contact and don't check up on your table while serving making it difficult to catch their attention when needed. My dish was very spicy when I asked for medium. I overheard a customer sitting behind me asking for "not spicy". They had also recieved a very spicy dish and made a complaint. This indicates pretty obvious signs of miscommunication between the kitchen and service. We have also been to a few expensive Indian restaurants in California , and their food was not as good as Star of India. Their naan and roti are literally the best. And all of their curries are really delicious. Their samosas are wonderful. Often, Indian restaurants make food really flavorless when you ask for “mild”.
