My wife and I decided to try this place for a second time as the first time was quite some time ago and it was subpar, but we decided to try it again because we wanted some Ramen and possibly some sushi. I got the beef Ramen and I had a side of pork Katsu to layer over the top. I asked them to put a soft boiled egg in it. I should’ve questioned it that they thought it was strange to put a hard boiled egg or soft boiled egg in the Ramen, but I thought it would be great to find a good Ramen shop around my area. The Ramen was utter trash. it tasted very bland like it was just plain beef broth with no seasoning With bits of broccoli in it the soft boiled egg I asked for was basically just stirred up egg in the broth. The katsu had no seasoning on it either, but the breading was at least crisp. We ordered three rolls to share, and the slices were so thin it was ridiculous. We asked for some real wasabi and the waitress looked at me funny and said she would ask, but when she came back, she brought me real wasabi, but it was pickled wasabi, and she was completely oblivious to the fact that wasabi comes in different types. Then on top of that they wanted to charge us two dollars for pickled wasabi That was only enough for three or four roll pieces. The rolls were made in a way where the rice didn’t even surround the entire roll and left gaps on the bottom like they didn’t use enough rice. All in all I would say avoid this place unless you like extremely bland overpriced food. The atmosphere was nice, but that’s about all I can say that was nice. $115. Dollars for three rolls and a bowl of Ramen that was worse than...
Read moreMy parents and I have been coming to Kenzo Sushi since I was a little girl and we love it! Everything on the menu is amazing and the customer service is amazing! The fish is always super fresh and also tastes amazing, especially the salmon and tuna. It’s nice because if you get the salmon sashimi (which is what I always get) it has a nice lemony tang because of the lemon garnish on the side and the ramen is also really good. I always get the vegetable ramen and there is always so much noodles, which I love! If you get hot sauce on the side of your ramen bowl, let me tell you, it gets spicy. Their Mochi ice cream is also really good, especially the green tea one. For rolls I would recommend the Americano Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and the Hurricane Roll. And my mom always gets the seaweed salad which is also really good if your into that kind of thing. For appetizers, the combo vegetable tempura is really good and the Gyoza’s and you always have to get a side of the edaname because there be no point in eating sushi if you didn’t have that. I’m going to be sad when I move away from Yuba City because I already know what kind of sushi I like here and chances are I won’t find it anywhere else, but at least it will give me an excuse to come down here more often😂 anyways, I hope whoever is reading this will try Kenzo’s because if you are in Yuba City this is definitely a place you need to try! It is amazing and a...
Read moreVisited Kenzo Sushi this past Saturday for a birthday dinner. Arrived right after opening time, and place packed up really quickly. Our group of 6 (4 adults / 2 children) were seated quickly in the overflow room, menu given, and drink orders taken. Menu isn’t as extensive as other places I’ve tried but had plenty of options. Everyone else had other rolls and bento boxes. I decided on the Kenzo Hamachi and an order of salmon nigiri. The Kenzo Hamachi roll was excellent! Just the right level spiciness for the spicy tuna (inside), and fresh quality hamachi (on top). I scarfed all that down and enjoyed every bite! We were all very satisfied with our orders.
Our server was very polite and friendly, but appeared overwhelmed as she seemed to be the only server besides some drink runners. It took a while to get her attention for water/soda refills, but that was a minor blip in the entire experience.
Although slightly expensive, the food quality definitely justifies the prices. I definitely recommend this place, and if ever we are in the area again, will for sure visit again. NOTE - there is an auto 19% service charge for parties of 6 or more, which we appreciated being told of when menus...
