Context: I visit this Starbucks location every morning, part of my daily routine. Today, however, I was startled and unnerved to find an armed police officer serving coffee at the drive-thru window. Lack of Consideration: It was not just the unexpected presence but having a gun directly in my eyesight that made this experience deeply troubling. This approach is neither trauma-informed nor appropriate for a morning coffee run. † Law Enforcement's Role: While the police are meant to protect and serve the community, this form of engagement clearly was not well-thought-out. Police departments should be more aware of the potential to trigger emotional and psychological distress in such situations, particularly for people of color. This shows how much San Bernardino County PD/Sheriffs dept. Need to be trained. Unprofessional Planning: Whoever thought this would be a good community engagement tactic needs to undergo training in cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed care. † Target Audience: This approach seems tailored for comforting a predominantly white demographic, ignoring the diverse and complex needs of all community members, including people of color like myself. Recommendation for Starbucks: I urge you to reconsider such poorly executed community engagement efforts and opt for a more inclusive, trauma-informed strategy. It's disappointing that an otherwise dependable part of my daily routine became a source of stress and concern. I hope

Read moreThis Starbucks is the best one we have gone to, and we go to ALOT of Starbucks' as we live on the road (travelling all of North America). The place is always super busy but the staff have smiles and are welcoming every person in. They have always nailed our orders exactly right and in a very timely manner. They have great music and a totally different energy than most Starbucks. Today was our fourth day in a row here, because we love it so much, and we were treated to a free refill on our drinks '''Just Because'. I still don't understand why, but we are very appreciative! Thanks Yucca Valley Starbucks! You guys are the best.
I also want to give a specific shoutout to one of the Baristas, I didn't catch her name, but she has been here all four days and has always been super charming and wonderful to me. She was working the drive thru today (Friday Dec. 14) in the morning. Please let her know her kindness didn't go unnoticed. The first day we came in I was having a tough day and she asked in such a genuine way "How are you doing today?" and the next day remembered my name and gave me the nicest smile. Thanks for your warmth! You made us...
Read moreThis is by far the worst Starbucks. They’re always understaffed and overpacked. Not to mention they are almost always out of whatever you want and don’t tell you until you get to the window. A couple of the staff are nice but most of them are super rude. Don’t unbag items and just kind of toss stuff at you and don’t apologize if they don’t have something or ask if you want something else. For example, the Carmel ribbon crunch frap. Ordered one with a piece of pumpkin bread and they never took the plastic off the pumpkin bread and it was not placed it in a Starbucks bag And no napkins were given. Then I ordered a Carmel ribbon crunch and they never put the crunchy topping on it and when I mentioned it at the window she said we don’t have those and shut the window, not even giving me an option to not have that drink or change it since that’s literally the best part of that drink. Now I’m in the customer service industry... that’s not a good look for a Starbucks to have employees acting in this manor. You’re better off going to Joshua tree coffee company or frontier. Better service and better coffee. This...
