After an extremely taxing Friday, I decided to take my uncle to his favorite restaurant... Golden Corral. When we arrived he told me he doesn't want to walk, so I push him on his walker into the restaurant and go get his food. When I return to the table, he tells me that he's hot, so I give him his drink, and that's when the day turned.
Basically, he had a seizure- type episode and was totally unresponsive. He was limp, sweaty, no color and slobbering from the mouth. Most people walked around us as if this was normal behavior... no big deal at all, BUT then there were those who NOTICED that there was something wrong and immediately came to our aide.
Our server abandoned her other tables to assist me in keeping him from falling to the floor, another gentlemen IMMEDIATELY grabbed the hands of anyone willing and formed a circle around us and began to call in the mighty name of Jesus, another 2 severs also abandoned their other tables to assist us un whatever way they could (the Male server ran and brought back a cool cloth for his forhead ) and Teresa, the manager, stood behind him helping to hold him up and comforting him (along with the other female server who was there).
This was alot going on around me ( my anxieties were trying to amp up, but I did not have time for that... Satan, not today!), but while on the phone with 911, I was completely aware of everything going on around us, including the 2 tables of customers who said awful, negative comments about my uncle's uncontrollable slobbering, which I did my best to keep wiped up, and his convulsions.
The paramedics arrived and did their thing, got him on the gurney and heading to the ambulance with him. I was pushing his walker out and giving info to EMS guy, Teresa insisted on giving me a refund for our meals, so I handed her my receipt and credit card and continued out the door with the EMS guy. Teresa caught me at the door to give me my card and refund receipt and asked me to please let her know how things turned out.
I got into the car and while waiting on the emergency vehicles to start moving, I call my mom and then my Pastor, Niles Light to request prayer for my uncle. He began to pray immediately and at that time I completely lost it... right in the middle of a u-turn. Everything that had just took place hit me all at one time. By the grace of God I made it safely to the emergency room.
To Teresa, Niles and EVERYONE else who's names I neglected to get, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for every kind word and gesture that was displayed towards my uncle and I in our time of need.
To the servers, who make their wages by waiting tables for tips, yet did not find it robbery to forfeit those tips for the sake of strangers, I pray that God above will look down upon each of you with GREAT favor and bless you abundantly for your selfless acts.
To the people at the tables near us in the restaurant who felt the need to loudly voice your utter disgust of my uncle's uncontrollable behavior during his medical emergency, I pray, sincerely, that you, nor any person whom you even remotely care about EVER, EVER experience anything like this, but if you do, I hope you didn't meet anybody like you. I hate for anyone to be treated the way...
ย ย ย Read moreEvery time I try to order at this restaurant at night, the staff tells me it's too late.
So, tonight, I specifically went online to do an online order at 7:15pm. Far before closing time.
I pick out the meals I was looking to have for my family and as always, it says the restaurant is closed or unable to take orders prior to close. They close at 9.
So, I call the restaurant to do the order over the phone and the girl tells me that I "have" to make the order online.
Where I explain to her, online isn't allowing me to make the order it says you guys are closed
She said that it's not supposed to close until 745 and I'm telling her well it is.
She then tells me, she doesn't know what to tell me, that she can't take any orders over the phone.
She tells me to come in and they can do a weigh and pay, but they're not accepting orders over the phone at all.
Which if you ask me... Is lazy, rude and unprofessional.
This has happened to me numerous times, when I've tried to order from this restaurant and the only reason I even try again is bc my BF will get a hankering for it and we will attempt the impossible again after we get off work. But every time we try, someone tells us they can't take orders.
What exactly is their job to do? Take orders and serve the customers, correct?
Or do they think the cost of running your establishment is covered by turning everyone around? Even when there's an hour and 45 minutes prior to closing, that they have to do their job?
I don't like leaving nasty reviews or being nasty, period. But after this happening over a handful of times now...I think the managers need to be aware of the night staff and their lack of motivation to fulfill their job requirements.
It's just getting ridiculous. If they don't want to work, there's plenty of others looking for jobs that will be more then willing to take 5 minutes to take an order over the phone, if the online system has encountered a glitch or is not...
ย ย ย Read moreWe're currently eating at the time of this writing. About 1 hr and 13 min into our meal. While we have not been ugly and demanding a manager, one was never offered at our initial protest and though I have identified and seen the mod a few times we have not been addressed.
We were as many often do, coming to the end of lunch so we could get lunch prices close to dinner. I don't try to hide that fact. It's allowed.
So my wife and I were in line at 3:55 pm and got our drinks and while standing at the register to pay; the cashier said $42.76 please. Needless to say I was taken aback. We were not given lunch prices. I double checked my phone 3:57 pm and I protested. I was told it switched while she was ringing it up. She said she had no control over it and the only thing we could do was choose to pay or leave. We came from Wesley Chapel my wife desperately wanting sweet potatoes we stayed.
But my phone said 3:57 pm at card swipe, her iPhone said 3:57 pm during my protest and even another just to prove it was still before 4 pm. Our receipt shows rang at 4:00 and paid at 4:01 after discussing whether to stay or go. This MEANS the CLOCK ON THIS LOCATION'S COMPUTERS ARE SET 3 MINUTES AHEAD OF CELLULAR TIMES WHICH EVERYONE BASES THEIR TIME TO BE IN BY.
$8 Might not be significant to most people but for my wife and I we could do laundry for that difference.
And a good cashier can ring more than a couple orders in 3 minutes especially if a couple lines are running.
Its a money thing and a principle thing. Cashier should have offered to get a manager for me at the getgo. Upon learning of me feeling wronged. The cashier just threw up her hands saying she had nothing to do with it and she couldnt change it. Period.
My suggrstion to the Tuttle Family is update your cashier program to be in sync with cellular phonr time. Synced across all carriers and uniform.
Our server Angel was awesome. Not anything...
