Oct 2024, let me edit my previous review. We had been having excellent dining experiences here until this recent visit. We were seated in an out of the way area and felt forgotten by the waitress. Warm chips and salsa made up for it. My husband and I usually order 1 entree and share it and we like the sopapilla for dessert. We ordered 1 entree and asked for a 2nd plate, my husband asked for a Corona with a lime and a glass, and we ordered our dessert. The bottle of beer showed up but no glass. And no waitress to help solve the problems. Then the meal arrived and no 2nd plate. We asked the young man that brought the meal from the kitchen for a 2nd plate and a beer glass and none appeared. We hailed down the Maitre'd passing by for a 2nd plate and a glass and none appeared. I guess word finally got back to the waitress and she appeared with the glass BUT NO 2ND PLATE! So, we stopped the young man that walks around the restaurant checking with you on your dining experience "Mr Amigo" and asked him would it be too hard to get that 2nd plate, and it appeared. We finished our meal and sat 5-10 minutes with no waitress and no dessert. Finally hailed her down and she acted surprised that we would want our dessert now that we had finished eating. Dessert appeared, and it was a disappointment. The sopapilla typically comes with a sprinkling of cinnamon/sugar on it as well as a drizzle of honey and a design of chocolate sauce on the plate. Today however, all you got was a crispy sopapilla on a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Now c'mon! We all know sopapillas are all about the honey! It was hard to pay $43 for such a poor dining experience. It's gonna be a while before we go back. *Sept 2024. Now this was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the 3 chicken enchiladas entree, and my husband and I shared it. It was more than enough for the two of us. For dessert, we ordered sopapillas. We're accustomed to sopapillas out west, so this was a surprise. These were flat and crispy and dark in color and covered with honey, sugar and cinnamon, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. It's the size of a dinner plate cut into four large pieces, and in the center was a huge dollop of whipped cream with a cherry. We would go back just to have the sopapilla and a cup of coffee! We were pleasantly surprised when the owner stopped at the table at the end of the meal to see how we enjoyed ourselves. First time that's happened anywhere we've been in 10...
Read moreTerrible Experience 3 of us for dinner tonight 1/10 Dinning out is a treat. It should not be all of us saying we wished we never came
Our waiter disappeared for long period of time, would not have any eye contact with us, forgot everything, every time he came to our table he would apologize. He never brought my silverware, So I got my food to take home and never ate it at the table. Our table was never cleaned off , it had no salt or pepper or anything on it. We waited forever for drink refills. We had to keep asking other wait staff to assist us. But what was truly annoying was the way they turn the lights off while you’re eating and play very loud birthday music And the entire wait staff comes out dancing and singing to the birthday table. This takes your waiter away from serving you and others. For the 1.5 hours we were there, there were 7 separate birthday celebrations by the wait staff. VERY loud, lights off and very loud !
Here is a timeline of our dining experience. I wrote everything down because it was so horrendous. I truly hope this does not happen to anyone else.
8:10 pm we were seated 8:21 pm we were finally greeted by our waiter and got our drink orders 8:34pm he took our orders and brought drinks 8:54 pm our food came out No utensils, no drink refills , no salt n pepper 9pm asked for check . I never ate as I had no utensils, the two other ladies had utensils, but there was only a setting/serving for two at the table, and there were three of us. My silverware never came.
9:13 pm check finally came but it was wrong 9:24 the revised check comes to the table and our waiter leaves again 9:33 the waiter finally brings the correct check, we were all so disappointed and so disgusted that for the first time ever none of us left a tip. We are all over the age of 60 years old, and none of us have ever not left a tip. We truly hope that this waiter gets his act together and that this restaurant stops doing these huge birthday productions that affect the entire restaurant. The food was just OK and very pricey. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend and I hope that the management and our owner reading this makes changes to their...

Tons of bright and fresh flavors splash your mouth with fun! I am DEFINITELY a Fan!
For me, this was a savory selection of exciting sensations! You see, this building was formerly the home to a restaurant that my family patronized for many years. Lots of birthday celebrations, Mother's Days, Father's Days and even a wedding rehearsal party or two.
I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I walked into the crisp & clean Plaza Mexico makeover. It was extremely familiar territory. Basically the same layout inside. The hostess station, the tables, those high booths, the bar and the middle area where the former buffet used to be. BUT, they've freshened everything up with a beautiful coat of paint and polish. The booths are now an exotic black with gray upholstery with a dash of shimmering bling attached. And the high-'light' for me, is those beautiful Dale Chihuly-esque whimsical glass ceiling lights! Fantasy and Food!
About the food...Excellent! Exquisite! Enticing!
Now, you know most of us can't wait to get chomping on Chips & Salsa! I will say the chips were hot and crispy, tasting like freshly made. And the salsa was perfect. Plenty of chunks of tomato, onion and all, spiced up JUST right...
I try to order the same dish, for the particular cuisine, on a first visit to a restaurant. As a guideline for comparison. When eating Mexican food, that entree is the venerable Chimichanga. So that is what I ordered.
One of my FAVORITE things about a Chimichanga is the ooey, gooey scrumptious white melty flowing cheese sauce! And this place NAILED IT! Oh, so good! The entree consisted of two of those deep-fried burritos, bathed in that Yes please! cheese. And some rice, refried beans and lettuce, tomato, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite. IF my Fav Fab One had been with me, she would have chuckled at my every Ooooh and Ahhhh! LOL
Zephyrhills has a new HOT SPOT! And I am eagerly looking for ANY excuse to drive from Brooksville to hit that...
