ATA GAMBURG — Restaurant in Khiva

I am surprised that this place earns such a high score. The place was filled with locals (which is often a good sign if you wanna escape the tourist traps) but I am quite sure they paid a different price than foreigners. We had one double and a pie (tried to order other dishes as well but they they were either finished or didn’t make it to our table) and two light beers for 90 k UZS. When we asked to get a breakdown of the price they charged us for a ‘salad’ - some pickled cucumbers, that we didn’t order and the prices in total didn’t add up. The portions were very small and we ended up having a second dinner at another restaurant. I would maybe recommend going for lunch to escape the old city for a bit, but don’t expect 4,7...

Alright here is a genuine review. First of all they don’t have a menu in written format. I walked in here few days ago. I wanted to order the chicken Kebab. The owner said in afternoon they don’t cook chicken. They have beef. So he insisted to come at evening. But while I was about to walk out I stopped by asking for a lays. The price he quoted was 6000, while outside his store I got the same lays for 3000. At that moment I decided not to visit the store again. Read the positive reviews and decided to try ourselves. It is a very local and homely place and the owner despite not speaking much English was very friendly and helpful. When ordering, he actually told us we ordered too much and to reduce- appreciate this very much. As for the food, we ordered the salad, beef kebab and chicken- all tasted so good!
