Registan Restaurant & Cafe — Restaurant in Samarkand City

I travel often. Do not listen to the few bad reviews. This place is very good. Down the street are aggressive men who are hired to con tourist into the restaurants, and stand outside giving an impression of “action.” This place is owned by a single woman who is very kind. Her staff is excellent and the atmosphere is honest, peaceful and nice.

Registan Cafe and Restaurant is the ONLY a place that serves ice and has cold soft drinks. Also, they serve butter! Good luck finding butter and ice elsewhere.

Food was very good. Fresh bread, and the meat was very tasty. I had Shashlik (Kabobs)

While, we we were eating two street kids came up and started singing for money. They would not leave. The staff came out and ran them off. And one of the staff stood outside to make sure they didn’t return.

This was my FAVORITE restaurant in all of Samarkand. Please do not let the “con-artists” down the street fool you. Their food is not good. Service is horrible and they get your orders wrong.

Last of all, a woman of integrity, kindness is exemplified, and the service is outstanding.

Avoid at any cost! The restaurant was dimly lit and we thought it was closed, until we approached them. The food was very poor, the children's French fries were raw and the garnish sweetcorn was just sweetcorn straight out of a tin. The food wasn't heated well and the taste was pretty bad. Just because its opposite the Registan do not be fooled. The lady who served us spoke Engligh but didn't seem to wear the appropriate attire of a waitress or was presentable. Very rude people. After a long day out we asked the waiter if we could charge our phone while having a drink. He agreed but then took our phone and never charged it. he simply put it on a table (far from our sight) without saying a word. When we realise it we asked once again if we could charge it and he says no. Please notice that the bar was completely empty and that the only reason why we stopped was because he agreed in the first place. Also the woman who we believe to be the owner was not friendly at all from the very beginning. Stay away...
