Because I read reviews, I knew to ask about and negotiate the price before sitting down. For plov, tea, bread, and cucumber / tomato / onion salad, I was initially told 45k som. I said no, started walking out the door, and then was told again 45k som. He asked how much I'd like to pay, I said 30k som. He said 40k som, and there's nowhere to get plov otherwise (what a lie). I said no and started walking out the door again, and I told him I didn't want anything aside from the plov. He didn't understand but then said 35k som. I checked if that's with everything, he didn't understand, so I assumed it was.

And it was. But the plov was super dry and oily, tasteless. 2 chunks of meat that was also super dry and overcooked, a bunch of bell peppers on top. The salad balanced the oil nicely, and the bread was fresh. But I was disappointed by the plov,...

My experience at Sharof Bobo restaurant was a mix of highs and lows. The staff was incredibly friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. The meal itself was delicious, prepared, and served by the family who runs the restaurant. We had Pilav, Soup, and manti. It felt like a truly authentic dining experience. They also provided bread, pickled vegetables, and green tea, which complemented the meal nicely. However, despite the review mentioning that this is a cheap restaurant, I found the prices to be expensive, similar to other restaurants in the area. This could be something to consider if you're on a budget. During my visit, there was an unexpected issue with the electricity, which resulted in an hour-long power outage. Unfortunately, the owner was unable to provide any backup lighting for the customers, which was a bit inconvenient...

I wish reviews have a zero star in scale. This place is a tourist trap for sure. Menu consist one page of pictures, no prices, no names, nothing. No matter what you order, it's 50,000 soms but they didn't tell you this catch. We ordered one lagman and one churpa soup, that's all. When the guy brought tea, tomato salad, cabbage, yogurt with dill, another green salad we told him no, it's not our order, just bring a lagman and churpa. 'Oh, it's a set'. Eventually, they brought our soups. When it was time to pay, I had to tell my piece of mind about their business, how they lost customers (another couple was about entering this place, I told them about a sketchy business and they walked away). Despite we stay 5 more days we never again come...

A plov specialist restaurant near Registan Square and Islam Karimov's Statue. Prices are 60,000 sum for foreigners (locals likely pay 45,000 sum – a dual pricing system). Seating options include tables near the entrance where dust drifts in from outside, and separate rooms resembling mezzanine levels. I chose the dusty (somewhat grubby?) ground-floor seating. This proved thoroughly enjoyable. I happily watched the various staff, locals and tourists coming and going while I ate. The plov itself was delicious, just as reputed, which was not so oilish. It was pleasantly not so busy after 1:30pm.

The first thing and amazing welcoming feast to Samarkand! The owner is really sweet and the food just slaps! Best plov I have had in 3 weeks of traveling through central asia. Not to mention the price is insane. You get plov, yoghurt, tomato salad, bread and tea for 50 000 sums ($4). My favorite spot in Samarkand!
