I got so humiliated in this place. I want today to have a bahn mi and a coffee, it’s a rainy day on a weekend and the place was full. I placed my order (paid) and found one available table outside where I set and waited for my order. No one said anything about me sitting there.
After about 10 minutes that I’m there, one of the girls working there came to and said that she gave a group of five people and I need to get up and give them my table. I was so confused by the requests but then she said that she is actually just moving me to a smaller table so I of course agree to change a table. The moment I got up the group of five took my place and I follow the girl to my new table, just to find out that it is taken as well if the rest of the tables in the place. Keep in mind it is raining and I’m standing in the middle of everyone while stars passing between the different tables and ask if I can join them. I had a terrible morning (not that it matters) and I didn’t want to share a table with a stranger while I’m crying, so I told her to please make my order take away.
As you have to pay when you order, I had no choice but to wait in this point.
I felt so uncomfortable, I cluster aside because it was raining so hard, so I just Stood like a fool in the middle between all the very crowded tables, while everyone is staring at all that awful situation.
Unfortunately it’s one of those places that once you paid them and they received the money, that’s it.
They literally made me leave just so they can get more people.
So you got the table of 5, and yes I’m just one person, but you lost me as a costumer. (And I actually live here). Money is not everything in life, and treating people with respect and not Humiliate them should be basic.
I left crying and will never come back to this place. If I could give less than 1 star...

The atmosphere is welcoming, with gentle lighting and the sound of rain pattering outside, setting a serene vibe. And then there’s the bread. Oh, the bread! Freshly baked and just out of the oven, each banh mi arrives with a crackling crust and a warm, pillowy interior that instantly melts in your mouth. You can tell that every sandwich is crafted with care, balancing flavors that dance on your palate. It’s hearty and filling yet light enough that you could easily indulge in more than one.
Adding to the charm, the background music had me nostalgic with Living Next Door to Alice playing softly as I took my first bite. It felt like a little slice of heaven – the warm bread in my hands, the song filling the air, and the gentle hum of life outside. The café was alive with the quiet chatter of other patrons and the occasional clinking of cups, making it feel like a close-knit community even amidst the anonymity of a busy city.
Whether you’re a local or a traveler, Umm Banh Mi & Café is one of those rare finds that makes you feel right at home. Perfect for ducking in to escape the rain or just to enjoy a peaceful meal in a setting that makes you want to linger a little longer. Highly...
Read moreUmm Banh Mi is my new favourite cafe for serving the best bò kho in town, their rich, flavorful beef stew is a masterpiece. The tender chunks of beef, perfectly seasoned broth, and fresh herbs create a dish that’s both hearty and satisfying. Pair it with their crusty, freshly baked baguette, and you’ve got a meal that feels like a warm hug for your taste buds.
Their bacon bánh mì with pickled vegetables is a showstopper! The smoky, savory bacon paired with crisp pickled carrots, daikon in a perfectly toasted baguette is a harmony of flavors and textures. Each bite is a blend of salty, tangy, and fresh, making it an absolute must-try.
With friendly service and a cozy ambiance, there’s plenty of seating both inside & outside, Umm Banh Mi is a spot you’ll want to visit again and again. Highly recommended for both locals and travelers looking for a taste of authentic Vietnamese goodness!
**Update, there is also another store 750m away (as per last pic) for those that want a more relaxed atmosphere, as it’s a lot less busy. Same great food and beverages, very chill background music and wonderful amazing staff.
