Came here with some friends visiting from out of town after seeing the ad, and was pleasantly surprised! Atmosphere was inviting with a good mix of rock across the eras, the lighting was soft, and the staff were attentive from the moment we got in the door! Some of the items we tried included:
Skinny Fries (So crispy and tasty, I forgot to ask what they fry them in…twice!)
Dirty Fries with Pulled Pork (This was a Sharable for the table, it was really good despite being thrown for a loop by the orange sauce being spicy and zesty instead of “sriracha but a different color” that western restaurants sometimes default to in this part of the world.)
Fried Brie Burger (This had some sort of pun name but I forget what it is. Never had my brief fried before yesterday, and frankly I’m not sure why. I was very impressed with the texture/seasoning combo despite wanting a slightly tangier sauce to complement the mild Brie, but if you can’t handle an umami-forward flavor profile, maybe split with a friend?)
Chicken Tenders (These were great! Diner-style Chicken Tenders like the ones at Bikini Bottom are my gold standard, but these were an A-grade homestyle take on the snack. Should come with ranch though.)
Chicken Wings (These ended up being my girlfriend’s main but she was having a tough time finishing the portion by herself without help lol. These wings are light and reminiscent of air fryer wings, but the crunch feels almost like a double fry with less density. Good times.)
Regular Smashburger (I had a slider version and our friends both had full-sized ones. Didn’t mention this before but these are probably the best burger buns in Da Nang now, and you can taste it in every bite. Admittedly I’d like a bit more of a pronounced crisping-charring on my smashburger, but I’m sure I could probably ask.)
I touched on this at the beginning, but the staff were fantastic, the sort of quality you’d expect at a sit-down burger joint in a western city where being rude isn’t accepted as a personality trait. As this is their soft opening, western management was on hand to chat up the guests and talk about offerings in between stints of hanging out front to chat with folks, and you can really tell that everyone is committed to making these guys’ first location in DN a success. Here’s hoping, as there’s always room for another...
Read moreI really like this place — it’s one of the very few restaurants where I find every single dish delicious. The one that impressed me the most here was… the French fries. Sounds silly, right? Not at all.
The thing is, in most other places, fries are truly just a side dish. They’re nothing special — you eat a few bites before moving on to the main dish. I mean, who really judges a restaurant based on their side dishes? That’s why most places don’t put much effort into them and focus solely on the mains.
But at Chops, it’s different. Even a side dish like the fries left a big impression on me, which says a lot about how good the rest of their menu must be. The fries are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and most importantly, incredibly fresh. They’re also completely free of greasy residue, so you can eat a lot without feeling heavy or sick. This was the first time I’ve ever been impressed by fries at a restaurant.
As for the other dishes — absolutely amazing. The burgers, fried jalapeños, mac and cheese… all fantastic. To me, a good dish is one where all the flavors blend perfectly together, without one overpowering the others — and Chops nails this. When I had the burger with cheese (sorry, I can’t remember the exact name — it’s the one served on a plate of cheese), I was sure it would be overly rich. A friend who came with me even exclaimed, “Oh my god, that’s way too cheesy!” But somehow, it wasn’t. It was perfectly balanced, not greasy, not overwhelming — just right.
And finally, the service. I was genuinely impressed. The staff stood ready, watching the tables, and checked in on guests in such a caring and gentle way — really attending to the smallest details. One staff member came over and asked, “Can I clear this glass for you?” My friend replied, “No, I’m still drinking it.” The staff noticed the glass was almost empty and immediately followed up with, “Shall I refill it for you then?” That’s a perfect 10 for me — that’s how service should be: noticing and caring about every little thing so the customer feels truly valued.
Overall, Chops is the most unique restaurant I’ve ever been to, because everything is just so outstanding and different from other places in Vietnam. I’m sure my friends and I will keep coming back, and I hope Chops will always maintain this...
Read moreWe had the best burger experience in Vietnam at Chops! 🍔 The menu has a wide variety of options – beef, chicken, pork – and you can customize your burger with extras like cheese, avocado, egg or even an additional patty. The buns are freshly baked daily, soft, light and easy to eat, which makes the whole burger feel perfectly balanced.
The drinks menu is also diverse, and although we didn’t try dessert (we went for a second round of burgers instead because they were that good), we’ve heard the brownie is absolutely to die for. They also host live music during the week (Wednesday to Saturday, maybe even Sunday), which makes the atmosphere even better.
Service was excellent – the staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations, and Kiran, the manager, is a real treasure: professional, warm and so easy to talk to. Bonus point: he also speaks Spanish, which is wonderful for Spanish speakers visiting Da Nang.
We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended if you’re in Da Nang and craving a great burger experience.
PS: We planned to take photos… but one bite in and the burgers vanished before the camera...
