As an American, I see what this place is or at least intended to be. While the service is 5 stars, I feel the atmosphere falls flat. I was sitting alone at the bar, quietly observing. I made polite conversation with the staff. The owner and one of his lackeys sat adjacent to me along with a Vietnamese wife. As they sat, they continued to make eye contact with me. As a once-owner of a similar establishment, and a patron of many others, I can tell you nothing sours me more than an entitled owner like this. Instead of saying hello, the two guys sat and stroked their egos, talking aloud in a quiet time of the day about all their travels and their disgust with patrons of theirs. Every so often, they would glare directly at me, mid-conversation with one another. The bald one, Scott, I believe I heard him called, continues to glare at me. Where I’m from if you make eye contact with someone, you say hello. It was a clear sign of ego-aggression. He also spoke aloud about his staff in a derogatory manner. A very arrogant way of dealing with his obvious lack of leadership. If I had a problem with my staff, I’d have a direct conversation. I wouldn’t cry aloud in a room of people trying to put money on my pocket. The food was in fact decent. No complaints except the prices which are twice that of a comparable Vietnamese restaurant with the same quality. Danang doesn’t have enough competition for this place, so that’s why it’s popular with westerners. Also, it’s a bit amiss to me that it’s advertised as Texas style barbecue but the atmosphere is very New Orleans. As an American this comes across as very disingenuous but in this part of the world, most people don’t know the difference. The staff(Vietnamese) are top notch. The food gets 3/5 because it isn’t bad, just nothing to write home about. However due to the ownership and his ego, I’d spend my money elsewhere. If I wanted to be around entitled Americans, I wouldn’t have flown to the other side of the planet. It wouldn’t take much for someone genuine to rival this establishment and send this guy back to some golf course in Austin, which is where I’d guess he came from.
Ps, thanks for the response. It’s safe to say whoever you are that has responded to my review, it’s pretty certain that you are in fact the bald guy. Nice coverup tactic. There’s nothing false about my review. You just got caught being a jerk and proved yourself...
Read moreGrabbed dinner from Dirty Fingers yesterday and would definitely go back. Price, taste, value, service were all great.
My sister and brother in law and I went to order Take Away (or takeout) and also grab a drink/beef nachos while we waited.
First off we were greeted and sat super quick, and drinks were in front of us before we knew it. I had a mojito and it was spot on delicious. Nachos were great.
When they took our order they triple confirmed we knew what we were ordering. We ordered a bunch of different food including 6 ribs - it came out to a little more kilos than they had estimated so they came out, let us know, and showed us the ribs to see if we wanted to keep them or reduce the amount. Honestly they looked super tasty so we just kept all 6, but very much appreciated that they checked with us, definitely didn't need to. We also asked if we could order some Tortillas on the side. Would have been totally okay if they said no, but they sold 6 to us for super cheap (called them "outside tacos" which is a fabulous name for them).
The atmosphere was great- the owners were apparently also in town and doing like a crawfish boil out in front of the restaurant and just hanging out with some beers and it was just super wholesome.
When we got the food home our party of 5 feasted! We got ribs, pulled pork, chicken thigh, ribeye steak, chips & queso and 6 tortillas. We used the tortillas to make some makeshift tacos - my favorite was the chicken and ribs for sure, but all the food was tasty, and pretty great bbq. Price overall was very fair. Will go again when...
Read morePROS: Cool retro themed American style roadhouse bar with extensive menu. Plenty of seating and offstreet parking. -A range of international live sport streams are available. If you want it, they can probably screen it. Great selection of Americana rock playing - although no live music? Also no sign of live or upcoming gigs which would be great because the venue is set up well for it. Pool table available.
CONS: Staff seem more concerned with talking about 'wild' stuff that happened there on previous nights than paying attention to customers. Many staff standing around - how about put drinks on a coaster, provide napkins or bring salt/pepper or ketchup when a customer asks? Not sure if the bar owner/GM is some old bald guy, if so, he kinda walks around with a drink not doing much. Just distracting staff and pointing out odd or weird things. The food was okay. The nachoes were tasty although the actual chip wasn't a proper nacho. The portion sizes are small to medium despite the price being high and the bar being American themed. If you're going to do American food, do a decent portion. Not a plate of nachoes with no Guac that could be eaten in 4 bites.
Dirty fingers is in a great location close to the beach and other things. It could be better. Or maybe it was in the past? Things seem a bit laxed and lazy now. Look forward to revisiting on a night of pumping live music to see if it improves 🤷
*Update - owner seems to enjoy leaving sarcastic comments on Google Reviews for anyone who rates him lowly. Instead of taking actual...
