I have been in the restaurant industry in Canada (Newfoundland & Labrador) since I was 15 (I’m 30 now!). In my years of service before switching careers, I learned how to spot a good server, great chef and top notch service. This restaurant is everything you want in a steak house. No seed oils, no harsh charcoal, perfect sear, perfect tallow fries, perfect side salad, and perfect service!
Backstory: Myself and my travel bestie found a gem— “bikini bottom” which we have dined at twice this week for breakfast because we loved it so much. After a day of shopping we decided to take a walk around the neighbourhood to see where we wanted a late supper. Ironically we walked several blocks for about 20-30 mins and happened to stumble upon Missteak— we were immediately intrigued by the beautiful staircase and entry, and to our surprise a fairly empty restaurant awaited us, considering the caliber of the atmosphere and decor. We were greeted so promptly & pleasantly and sat at our booth.
This is where it got spiritual LOL I recognized the first server who provided excellent service to us at bikini bottom just this morning!! We could not believe it! His name is Nam (we asked because he is lovely!!) and our server Pudding was just as happy and kind during our meal. Just to put in perspective— how incredible is it that they continue their work day from bikini bottom to the second restaurant!! It is not an easy business so you have to really love it and you can tell they do and they do it with a smile.
I truly believe I was meant to find this place because in corporate world I forgot about my restaurant roots and how much I miss it, so thank you to Pudding and Nam and Chefs for reminding me why I shouldn’t turn my back on the industry just yet.
Now let’s talk food!!! We had the flat iron steak, with two side salads, one order of tallow fries with mushroom sauce, and two soft drinks. But there was another surprise that I can’t believe I never thought of— TALLOW POPCORN!! This is the best thing I’ve ever tasted in the world of popcorn, and kudos to who ever said let’s put this on the tables for a snacky snack while our customers are waiting for our food. Genius and incredibly delicious.
Our steaks were cooked to perfection, our salads were light, fresh and crisp with a melange of flavours that we could never get at home 🇨🇦🇨🇦 (can you guys please move to the east coast of Canada so I can eat here every day?! LOLOL jk).
Now… The fries, guys. THE FRIES. They are tallow fried and crispy af, with the soft pillowy goodness inside— I promise these are the best fries you’ve ever had. Get them. Get it allllllll
The only sad thing about this is that we were too full for dessert!! (Salted caramel cheesecake I will be back for youuuuuu). We have 4 days left in Danang, and I can say with certainty we will make time to go back to both Bikini Bottom and Missteak. Hopefully we will get to see the two best servers (Nam and Pudding) since their exceptional service and conversation shine through — adding to the delight of dining at these locations. Thank you both and the Chef. From one former chef/server to another, I hope this review helps to put you in the best of weeds and that you get alllll the deuces and 4tops 😉 LOL it’s hard to pull off all three of service, food and atmosphere, but you guys got it. You got it goooood!! Oui, chef!!
GO HERE. You will be...

The minimalist industrial design has a chic but comfortable feel, and upon walking in, you are tantalized with the delicious aromas coming from the open kitchen.
As soon as we sat down, we were greeted with free truffle popcorn as we perused the menu! Already we knew we had scored and were in for a good night of eats and top-notch service.
We started with the Wagyu Burnt Ends and ended with the Salted Caramel Cheesecake (so good that we took another helping home), and honestly, those two plates alone are reason enough to visit Missteak. The burnt ends were perfectly savory sweet and the wagyu practically melts in your mouth.
Our steaks were also perfectly prepared to order - no fears of under- or over-cooked disappointment. They are also glamorously presented on stone and wood slabs and paired with a mini meat-cleaver of a steak knife, in continuity with the functional chic decor. The Tallow Fries and Balsamic Shrooms were perfect accompaniment- and such a refreshing departure from anything cooked in hydrogenated oils. Everything prepared here is cooked in beef tallow and olive oil. It makes all the difference in flavor and feel. Everything coming out of this kitchen is real food!
Though I already mentioned the Salted Caramel Cheesecake, it is worthy of its own note. Served with charm tableside, it is melt-in-your-mouth decadence, every bite pitch perfect in the combination of buttery crumb crust, rich cheesecake, and the extra caramel bits on top, sprinkled to your own liking.
The service team was not just friendly but on top of their game throughout the night. We appreciated water refills when our glasses were low, service was always attentive, and all of the service staff and kitchen team alike wore big smiles.
Extra bonus points - our chef came out and asked if we had enjoyed our meal. Top class and we appreciate the personal touch.
Life is short. Enjoy burnt ends...
Read moreThis is the final stop in our journey of trying all the restaurants owned by this group and both my partner and I are just amazed at the beauty of the food and atmospheres. We both work in hospitality in Australia and have been raving to each other how this places would thrive in literally any country around the world. We have only ate at local restaurants/places on the side of the street but wanted to give these places a try as the reviews have been the highest rating we’ve seen across Vietnam, and we fully understand why they are rated so highly.
Tonight we had the steak bites and 1000 layer potato’s to start. The sauce with the steady bites was so familiar, and the steak its self melted in our mouths - something I highly recommend. The complimentary popcorn is such a nice touch, it was something I have never had before and I am such a popcorn connoisseur. We split the steak Sando and the 200g steak, both absolutely phenomenal! The combination of flavors in the sandwich were amazing and I would go back just for that! The steak was melt in your mouth good, could do with a touch more salt but we added that at the table.
The staff were kind and welcoming and gave helpful recommendations/opinions on how much to order.
My favorite drink I’ve had in a long time was the oolong sour - the perfect balance.
I have loved all the restaurants from this group and will probably go again before leaving da nang!
Well done to the staff and the owner, I will be leaving a review at the other places because they all deserve to...
