I've had my fair share of mì quảng, and Mì Quảng Bà Mua is a solid, reliable choice. It's not the most mind-blowing bowl you'll ever have, but it delivers on the promise of a hearty, comforting dish.
What I liked: Classic flavors: The broth is rich and flavorful, and the turmeric-dyed rice noodles have that characteristic bouncy texture. You get the classic toppings like pork, shrimp, and peanuts, and they don't skimp on the portions. Multiple locations: With several branches spread across the city, it's easy to find one near you, especially if you're exploring different areas. This is particularly handy for grabbing a quick lunch or a familiar bite after a long day. Spacious and clean: The restaurants are generally clean and well-maintained, with ample seating. This makes it a good option for families or groups.
What to keep in mind: It can get crowded: Due to its popularity, especially amongst tourists, the restaurants can get quite busy, particularly during peak dining hours. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially if you're in a large group. Not the most adventurous: If you're looking for a truly unique or innovative take on mì quảng, this might not be the place. It sticks to the traditional recipe, which is great for those who want a classic experience, but might not be exciting for seasoned foodies.
Overall: Mì Quảng Bà Mua is a good choice for a satisfying and affordable bowl of mì quảng. It won't win any awards for originality, but it delivers on the core elements of this beloved local dish. If you're looking for a no-frills, comforting meal in a clean and convenient setting, then...
Read moreFirst My Quảng after years and definitely disappointed. Might be different in my memories, but I didn't like it at all. The My was okay, but the soup and sides were just cheap ingredients. I made another fatal mistake and ordered a bánh xèo. The special one, which in my case means thick and extremely oily, with some extra pure fat pork belly on top. I've had many bánh xèo before, and this was the worst. We stopped after 20% and asked to pay. The final surprise was that they wanted to charge us for our own drinks. I don't get it! Nice place, nice ambiance, but the service and food were very much below average. Definitely not worth...
Read moreI made a specific journey to this place to have pork rice paper rolls. I arrived at 2.05pm to be told they only have noodles left. Ordered "boneless" chicken noodles which contained multiple bone shards, knuckles and sinew. To add insult to injury, at 2.20pm, 4 local men in business attire were served pork and rice papers. When I questioned this after consuming my meal I was informed, the pork was now available. I felt discriminated against as a white female tourist. No explanation...
