I think the first thing to say about this hotel is that is their customer service is the best that I have ever experienced, and I say that having stayed at literally thousands of hotels.
From the moment you arrive they will make you feel so so welcome. The hotel is the best looking building around and tastefully decorated, and has a lovely boutique feel about it.
The first three floors are mainly the reception area, the spa and the breakfast room, where they do a buffet until 10am. The 12th (top) floor is the bar/restaurant and pool, and there’s also a small gym. I assume the other floors are all guest rooms. I was on the 5th.
The hotel itself is in a perfect location - just a stones throw from the beach but, equally important, it doesn’t feel like a tourist area, in fact, all of the little roads behind the hotel are like a window into Vietnam, packed with houses, tiny little restaurants and shops. It felt perfectly safe to just wander around any time of day/night and discover all the tiny roads and eateries. If you stick to the seafront there are some more mainstream restaurants to cater for the visitors.
The rooms at the hotel are nice and spotlessly clean. Housekeeping did a fantastic job every day. The bed was super comfy and the TV had Netflix, so I was able to add my account and watch that. I had a side room. Only the front rooms have a sea view, but as with all roads in Vietnam, they can be noisy, so I thought a side room may be quieter. There was free water and a small fridge with some ‘pay for’ mini bar items, but plenty of room to add a few of your own bits. There was an umbrella and room safe, both of which came in handy.
The building is converted, so noise does carry easily from room to room. I was there for New Year, which probably didn’t help, but pack some ear plugs just in case, but don’t let that put you off. I do think the hotel should invest in some rugs for under the tables and chairs in the rooms, as a lot of the noise was caused by these being scrapping in the hard floors. Having a heavy carpet rug would prevent that.
The bar and restaurant are fantastic. A special mention to the wonderful Jimmy, who makes some of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. They even have a 2-4-1 happy hour on cocktail’s from 8pm until close. Both the bar and restaurant are great value for a hotel, and very good quality. In fact, I had their green mango prawn salad three times, as it was just so yummy. Even the ‘western’ offerings were really good. I had the beef tenderloin one night, which was a great price. I was a little cautious as it was only £17, and that included a free glass of wine, but it was juicy, tender and cooked perfectly.
In the afternoon they do a lovely free afternoon tea. In fact, I’d just come from a five star hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and the cakes here were better than the executive lounge there. I couldn’t believe it was free.
The pool area is quite small, but looks amazing. It was a little chilly when I was there, so I didn’t sit outside, but it would be great in the summer. I couldn’t tell if the pool was heated, and there are only 6 loungers, so I’m sure will be snapped up.
The spa is just lovely. They had an offer on whilst I was there, so great prices. I paid about £23 for an hour and a half deep tissue massage, which was just brilliant. I must apologise for not recalling the lady’s name who did my massage, but she was fab.
Finally I have to say a massive thank Clara and Dora. They are without doubt the most lovely hotel staff I have ever encountered, and I hope your bosses appreciate you. They remembered my name and room number from the day I arrived and would check on me at least once every day to make sure was okay. Just exceptional customer service from start to finish, I’ve never had such lovely care, so thank you. All the staff are an absolute asset to your hotel, and the reason I would most definitely recommend...
Read moreI stayed 2 nights at this hotel in Feb 2019. Here are the reasons why I gave it 5 stars. 1/ Clean room with all amenities I need. I found no dust on neither the floor nor on the shelves in the closet. Hotel lobby and restaurants have a nice decor designs. Hotel has a good location. My Khe beach is across the street. Lots of restaurants were near by. 2/ Compliment tea time and breakfast had many different choices. Foods were refilled quickly and temperature check often. 3/ All staff that I had met always greeted me with a smile. The doormen, housekeepers, lobby and restaurant staff, they were all very polite. Upon arrival, Dory, front desk staff, took us to the rest area upstairs where we were served cold drink and snacks while waiting for them to prepare the paperwork. During tea time and breakfast, guest relation staff stopped by and asked for our feedback about the room, the foods or anything requests that we might have. 4/ Quickly resolved any issues. I had trouble to turn on the TV and my friend's room has issues with the AC. We called the front desk and less than 5 minutes, the technicians already knocked our doors. On our last day, Clara, a guest relation staff, had brought us a beautiful fruit basket to thank us for staying with them and also for apologizing anything that might cause our stay inconvenient.
Although I gave 5 stars for excellent customer services, it did not mean there were no negative remarks. However, these remarks were very small and had no affect to my rating for them. For instance, 1/ Foods at tea time needs to have labels to indicate the names and also the key ingredients so people with certain allergy can be aware of. I did mention this to Mary the guest relation staff and she noted. 2/ Breakfast tables were set up with tea/coffee cups. However, it took 15 minutes for a staff to come to our table and offered us tea/coffee even we sat right next to the tea/coffee station. Meanwhile, we noticed that they offered tea/coffee for other guests right at the moment they sat down. The service was not consistent. 3/ Engaging in a conversation with the guests is a good way to learn what they like and dislike. However, the conversation should not be too long. I saw some guests loosing their interest in a long conversation with the staffs. 4/ Their slogan is "Stay with a view" but not all rooms have a view. My room view is a white wall of a building next door. . Also the swimming pool is tiny compared to the one in the picture.
In short, I was very happy with my 2 day stay at the Monarque Hotel. If I have known their super customer services before, I would stay longer. I highly...
Read moreHIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! My son and I had planned to stay at Monarque Hotel Danang for just one night, but we had to delay our arrival by two days due to some unforeseen circumstances. Despite our room being non-refundable, the hotel was gracious enough to change our reservation dates and provide us with a room.
We borrowed two bikes from the hotel in the evening to catch the Dragon Bridge show at 9 PM. Unfortunately, I fell off my bike and got badly hurt returning to the hotel. We somehow managed to return, and my son asked the staff for an ambulance. That's when we met Rose.
Rose was truly amazing. She went above and beyond to help us in a foreign country where we didn't know the language. She suggested we take a taxi to the emergency room and even accompanied us there. She stayed with us throughout the entire process and even took me to the dentist the next day. She was so kind and helpful; we can't thank her enough for everything she did for us.
Because of my accident, we had to stay an extra night at the hotel. The front desk manager, Ms. Gaga, was incredibly kind and upgraded us to a beautiful room with an ocean view. She even gave us a lovely fruit basket! The kindness of the hotel staff so touched us much. They made us feel right at home, and we're so grateful for their hospitality.
The hotel’s location is perfect, right in front of the ocean. The breakfast buffet is amazing, with a wide variety of fresh food (Asian and Western options), delicious cakes, and fruits. The afternoon tea is also a must-try, with tasty small sandwiches, fruits, tea, and coffee. The food is of the highest quality.
To us, a 5-star rating means that a place is somewhere we'll definitely return to and even make it a destination. That's exactly how we feel about Monarque...
