Roadhouse — Restaurant in Đà Nẵng

Update to initial review, returning after a year's absence.

The kitchen has been transformed. The pizzas are delicious and the burgers deservedly renowned. Best of all, care is now taken to serve both burger and fries together when requested.

It's also a good spot to sit and chat with friends over a beer or two.

Pepe's doing a great job of keeping the customers happy and maintaining a relaxed atmosphere.

For posterity's sake I leave the original review from 2024 below to judge how it's improved.

Unfortunately, I experienced another 'cultural misunderstanding'. A group of four ordered beers and then food. I ordered the double burger and a side of medium fries. After a few minutes a plate of French fries arrived and was placed in front of me. After several more minutes I called the waiter over and asked where was my burger? 'Oh, you wanted the fries with the burger?' was the reply. Why on earth would you order fries with a burger and not expect them to be served together? I asked. The waiter just wandered off.

The burger still wasn't produced so a few minutes later I took the plate of now cold fries back to the kitchen and told them I want fries served at the same time as the burger.

Some more minutes pass and the burger is now brought to the table on the plate of now stone-cold fries that I had returned earlier.

Again, I had to request that they take the inedible fries away if they can't produce freshly cooked ones to appear simultaneously with the burger that was ordered at the same time!

They somehow managed to turn a simple order of a burger with fries into a Kafkaesque living nightmare of refusing to understand a simple request for a meal and performing it with any degree of competence.

If someone orders a burger with fries, don't produce them twenty minutes apart guys. They...

I think I just fell in love with the hamburger again. The food at this restaurant is tremendous. The burgers are juicy and full of flavor! Have I mentioned how affordable they are? Judging by all the posters, there is almost always something going on at the roadhouse. As I was leaving, one of the staff members invited me to come back for their live DJ's.

Food) The food is scrumptious, and they have a wide variety of beverages available. I can personally highly recommend the bacon Beast burger for only đ80k!!

Service) The staff member who waited on me today was friendly, polite, and prompt. He made great suggestions and seemed to be giving wonderful service to all the patrons.

Atmosphere) As is the case with many restaurants in Danang, especially in the tourist area, this is primarily an outdoor restaurant. The music is kept at a reasonable level, and there were hilights from a BMX video game on their TV. It was lovely to have the mister going continuously as well to help to try to cool patrons down. Being primarily a roadside patio, this location is very accessible.

Price) Very affordable, especially considering the amount of food you receive and its high quality.

I highly recommend this as a place to dine while in the tourist area of Danang. Sometimes you just want a taste of home, and this is the place to be. I will certainly...

Comfortable seating with cushions (makes a change in Da Nang), welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff.

Burgers are fabulous, pizzas are epic and the sides are top notch.

The one thing, literally just one thing that I would change, is stop using the absolutely dreadful American imitation cheese slices on the burgers and also on the loaded fries.

Maybe that's because I'm English I'm saying this, but it's honestly tasteless and of poor quality.

Let me just expand a touch on the loaded fries, they're 100k which really isn't much at all, the fries are cooked perfectly, but lacking in good cheese and 'loaded' toppings. Maybe some beef/chicken/pork with some BBQ sauce would be ideal.

The bacon is great though, right amount of fat to meat ratio and very tasty.

However, I can't complain because the value for money is really good.

I wish I had a picture of the burgers and pizza, but they were too good to wait for a photo!

If you want to know, the beer is ice cold and a good price. Can't go wrong with that.

I just also wish all restaurants in this area would ban street sellers walking in and hassling you when you're trying to eat. It's absolutely infuriating and half the reason I order...
