Gemination Eatery & Bar Da Lat — Restaurant in Da Lat City

I enjoy the design and the vibe at this bar. This is our second time visiting this place. I think they made better classic cocktails than their signature cocktails. They have a great selection of liquors as well.

We tried signature cocktails as the first round. I was not quite impressed with how they made the “Warm story” which is the combination of cinnamon-and-star-anis-infused whiskey and eggnog foam. This drink was served hot. As a whiskey fan as well as cinnamon fan, both were killed within the taste. The cinnamon was too overwhelming yet the whiskey was lost. I do not get the texture also. The foam was light and it did not blend in the whiskey as we stir which left me confused. I still love other cocktails I have tried here though. My partner had a better one which was a Arabica Cau Dat - you will love it if you are a coffee fan. I think they did a better job with this creation. It was not sweet or bitter, it was just enough.

To start the second round, we decided to order classic ones. I had grasshopper and my partner had his paper plane. Both were decently good. That was great since we celebrated our Xmas Eve here. We ordered the third round with Bee’s Knees and classic gin & tonic. We also tried their shots too.

What an absolute JOKE of an establishment. Save yourself the hassle and do not even consider ordering food here—you’d be lucky to get it, and when it does arrive, you’ll need a microscope to spot your meal.

We ordered prawn spaghetti and Gambas, and were told it would take 20 minutes. 1 hour later we were still waiting. Over an hour for food is beyond a joke.

When the food finally arrived, it was laughable. The prawn spaghetti consisted of about 20 strands of pasta with just 3 prawns. As for the Gambas, the menu photo showed a dish with nine prawns, but what we got was a sad plate of oil with just 2 prawns!

When we complained, the 8 staff members all coy behind the bar offered a measly 10% discount, which was frankly laughable given the circumstances. After some back and forth, they reluctantly agreed not to charge us for the food, but by then the experience was completely ruined.

To sum up: drinks are okay (though overpriced for Vietnam c. £7 per cocktail) service is below average, and the food is utterly pathetic. Easily the worst place in town. Avoid...
