Alex is such a gem of a French restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had just stepped into a cozy little bistro in Paris. It’s warm, charming, and has that “dining at a friend’s house” kind of vibe—just with a really great French chef in the kitchen. Perfect spot for a date, by the way.

Now, the food—the beef was amazing. Cooked just right, super tender, and packed with flavor. You can tell everything is made with care, in that home-cooked, no-fuss-but-still-elegant French way. It’s the kind of meal that makes you slow down and really enjoy every bite.

If I had to nitpick, the air conditioning was a bit on the warm side, which wasn’t ideal. But honestly, between the great food, the beautiful setting, and the whole relaxed vibe, I barely even cared.

Strolling on a Sunday evening we were fortunate to walk in for dinner at this charming, open concept bistro. From all tables, of which there are not many, one can watch the chef and their team produce your incredible meal. There is an extensive menu of hot and cold authentic French appetizers. The in house made pickled vegetables were bright and flavorful. The Caesar salad could have been a meal for one, easily shareable with a creamy herbal dressing. The beef bourguinon was exquisite, the meat tender with herbs and vegetables that melted in your mouth, both literally and figuratively. The tuna in a blackberry sauce with a gratin dauphinois was sublime. The wine list is divided by region of France, all well represented. A hidden gem for French gastronomique lovers - in a cosy, friendly, "l am missing home" way. Price is expected to be very reasonable and yes, it is. My boyfriend is a grumpy old Frenchy had a great time here tonight. So did I. I am even happier finding him a place which he could from now on visit very often with high quality food and cosy atmostphere. I am sure it's not gonna be low-key because the very good words of mouth will be spread about Alex Hanoi. His wife is also very caring and attentive to the customers. The wine menu here is just as fine as a French wine enthusiast should be. There are some home-made condiments, pate, pickles available for take-away, too. Food are well cooked and so authentic my Frenchy could finally eat more than his regular consumption everyday since he moved here 2 years ago. We will come back even more...
