Having had many nice experiences at their old premises, we thought we’d try the newer restaurant as it is closer to us. We could tell that our waitress was new and that was ok, she had a mentor alongside her to help - no problem. We ordered a variety of antipasti as our first plates and some pastas/pizzas as our second plates, which we would assume would come later. Sadly, the new waitress had not ordered the food correctly or the kitchen had not organised the timing, since we received the pizza first, before anything else, and the pasta while only 1 or 2 mouthfuls into our first plate. No big problem, we just kindly sent it back and reminded that we wanted our first plates first and our second plates after. The issue arose when another waiter came back and said that ‘we can’t waste the food so I will leave it here’ at the table. We then had to explain why we didn’t want to keep it, to which he answered ‘she (the waitress) is new you can’t you just keep it?’. Well, no we should not have to do that as paying customers. After we finished our first course, the pizza came back out (cold from before, not a new one) and what I think was a new pasta dish. Sadly a hair was discovered in my pasta dish so, for a second time, it was sent back and I said I did not want any more food at this point. Another waiter did come up to our table, apologised, stating he would take the pasta off our bill. However I’m quite shocked that the manager/owner did not feel it necessary to address our table due to the multiple issues we experienced, instead all we got was staring, scowling and some muttering from him and his table of friends upon exiting. Sadly will not be going back after this. Something is different now, the vibe, the management - I’m not sure. But we...
Read moreFirst of all the most important topic: Food I would rate the taste of the food 5/5. I tried the Carbonara which was made on a italian classic way and flamed in a cheese (nice show)! But honestly if you pay 300k for Food in Vietnam you shouldn't be hungry after your dinner. If you really struggling about costs then rise the prices! That's why I have to cut here 1 star.
Service: Overall the service was ok. My most biggest critic point was really the Payment. When I come to the restaurant I asked the service staff BEFORE I sit down the table and ordered something if it's possible to pay with a digital(!!) credit card. The answer was a clearly "yes it's possible". I mentioned especially that I don't have cash and a normal card. Of course after we had our food and wanted to pay it wasn't possible anymore. It was a shame for me to stand there and cannot pay for my food even if it's not my fault. After a long discussion I had to pay with our last cash and we had to walk 50min home because we spent our last cash in this restaurant. This is just absolutely unprofessional, especially for a restaurant which calls himself "luxury restaurant." After this experience I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreThe atmosphere was so cozy and inviting, with charming decor and comfortable seating. I felt like I was eating at a friend's house, it was that welcoming.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Our server made great recommendations for dishes and drinks, and was always there to refill our water glasses.
But of course, the real star of the show was the food. I decided to try one of their pizzas, the diavola, and it was seriously the best pizza I've ever had. The combination of the spicy sausage and peppers was just perfect, and the crust was thin and crispy.
We also tried a few of their pasta dishes – the special ravioli tartufo and the pomodoro e basilico. Both were cooked to perfection and the flavors were spot on.
I had such a great time at Giovanni's. The food, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. If you're in Hanoi and looking for an amazing Italian dining experience, you have to give this place a try. You won't be...
