Read moreShockingly mid. Was recommended this restaurant by our concierge and cruise line and it was a huge miss. Service was chaotic and clumsy. It seemed like a bunch of students running around during their first catering gig. I could hear loud noises from the kitchen/dish pit, servers dropping things, and they were literally jogging around and creating an unrelaxing environment. We all were anxious and felt like we were at a Las Vegas buffet at closing time. There were soooo many servers so why was it so chaotic? It was a Wednesday night and I guess they had an 80 person event. I saw our server picking her nose at the service station before bringing me my martini.. I was shocked and looked at her with disgust.
Spring roll sampler was average- shrimp roll tasted like it had been rolled hours ago and was dry and tough. The beef entree that two of us ordered was a terrible cut and the knives were so dull it was hard to cut-Both said it was below average. I ordered the gnocchi and got three small pieces of gnocchi that were luke warm, the other ingredients in the dish were not enjoyable. My mom ordered the langoustine and hers wasn’t warm either and she didn’t like it. One of us ordered a second glass of a red wine and the pour was half the amount as the first. Would never come back here or recommend. We wanted dessert but didn’t even bother. I am a chef in California and have worked in many restaurants in Seattle and San Diego, out of our three weeks in SE Asia this was the most expensive meal and the worst meal. I was invited by my friends for a quick lunch, and honestly, I really had no idea about this restaurant before. But wow, what a hidden gem tucked away in the old quarter! It’s a perfect little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, offering a cozy yet elegant vibe.
The food? Just bang on. We ordered a 3-course lunch set menu with 2 options each. My starter was Oyster ravioli with green herb sauce. The ravioli made with squid ink was delicate and the oyster filling was fresh and rich which went really well with the green herb sauce. I should have ordered a glass of champagne instead of a kombucha…
The main was Pan-fried salmon with pesto tagliatelle and red wine sauce - well, such a classic dish that I didnt expect much. But it turned out to be really good. The salmon filet was perfectly cooked and still moist inside. The pesto tagliatelle was fresh and the red wine sauce brought everything well together. Actually I wished to have a bit more of tagliatelle.
The meal ended with a smooth and rich chocolate tart with a buttery crust, some red fruit coulis and caramel ice cream. The only flaw was the ice cream already melted a half of it right after being served (maybe as the weather was scorching?!)
The service was also spot on—super friendly and attentive, nothing to complain.
Overall, I really enjoyed the meal, absolutely worth the value. I will be back to try their A la carte menu but it looks...
