Nice little restaurant with really pleasant staff and tasty food. All the salsas appear to be home made which always adds volumes to the flavour and experience. The Beef burrito was super tasty with the rice and black beans adding to the rich flavour. Perhaps a little on the small side but you have to remember a lot of these ingredients aren’t local to Asia. The vegetable soup was incredible, could have drank that for days. Beers were reasonably priced for the area too and we would have stayed for more but it was around the time of us getting our lime cookie dessert (really delicious) when the owner came in carrying his child rapidly upstairs and proceeded to shout at the staff about an online order that may have been in for 5 minutes or so. I’ve managed in a few Mexican places and other restaurants so I know it can be frustrating when things aren’t being done to your liking but you take the lead member of staff to the side and have a word with them in private; you don’t scold them like a child in public especially in front of customers. It’s completely unprofessional and uncalled for.
Let me clarify this is the ONLY reason I have given 3 instead of 5 stars because it really makes me irate after having such a lovely meal with the attentive and helpful staff to know the money is going to a Scrooge McDuck character who likes to make passive aggressive comments to his staff in order to belittle them in front of customers. Not on.
If your staff need to make a few adjustments-spend time training them.
Lovely food. Great staff. Clueless (what I can only...
Read moreThe restaurant opens right into a bar, which is very nice. Made me want to stop at bar and have a drink, especially after friendly greeting from staff. Service was very good, multiple people waited on us and all were friendly and helpful. The manager came around checking on customers to make sure food was ok. I would come back for the service alone. We were given a nice big private booth, there was a variety of music playing, some Spanish music was mixed in. This was very nice. The food itself is just ok. The corn tortillas are something of a mix of soft and crunchy, way too thick. They used same corn tortillas for chips, so it had same weird consistency. The chips were too thick, almost like they had air in them. The guacamole was great, very good flavor, fresh, and not overly seasoned. Simple and delicious. Tacos outside of tortillas weren't bad, smoked pork is a little diffrent combo in Mexican, but wasn't bad. Beef barboca was very good. The naked burrito wasn't bad, cilantro lime rice wad really good, would leave off cheese in future, way too much lettuce, but all and all a good flavor. The chicken wings were pretty dry, and lite on flavor. I did appreciate they weren't breaded, but they were definitely frozen previously. The smoked ribs were overseasoned, didn't have a lot of meat, and really tough. Avocado smoothie was really good, very creamy and delicious. Red wine was served chilled, which is a thing in Vietnam (I wish it wasn't). I would return and try other dishes due to the...
Read moreI’ve been a customer since they opened, back in 2013 or 2014. It’s been a while since I’ve been at the restaurant, but before all the Mexican food restaurants that now operate in Hanoi came to town, the only place for good Mexican food was Salt n’ Lime. Making them one of the pioneers of Mexican food enjoyment in Hanoi.
Salt n’ Lime still has an amazing selection of food to choose from that has grown over the years! It’s great to see they have improved on their best menu items and added even more!
I noticed their menu changed a few months ago and they now seem to have the more affordable tacos in Hanoi! Only 35-45k for most of the normal tacos they offer is a great price when looking around at their competitors. My son and I decided to try them out today!
We ordered two of each of their chicken, pork and beef tacos. All were phenomenal! One thing that sets them apart from other places is the flavor of the tortilla shell. It’s a bit salty and seemingly has a hint of lime baked right in! The chicken was both of our favorites, but the pork and beef were also very good!
We also ordered and split an egg burrito, which was also very good!
We both highly recommend...
