To the Bonte Cafe Management,
I am a regular customer of Bonte Cafe and I really enjoy the co-working space on the 3rd floor. It's quiet, the seating is comfortable, and the Wi-Fi is strong. I've always found the 10,000 VND usage fee to be quite reasonable.
Recently, I received a notification that I will have to purchase an additional drink when I return after lunchtime. This means that if I work three separate sessions (e.g., after breakfast, after lunch, and after dinner), I would have to pay for three drinks plus the usage fees. With this policy, my monthly cost would be at least 3-4 million VND if I use the space consistently, which I find to be unreasonable.
This raises a question: If a customer pays the usage fee and buys one drink, then stays at the cafe all day without leaving for lunch—perhaps by ordering food delivery—will the staff still require them to buy an extra one or two drinks? You are charging a service fee, so you should accept that some customers will stay for a long time while others won't, depending on their needs. The cost of electricity for that area is a fixed expense for you, regardless of how many customers are there.
Perhaps you could consider a more flexible approach, such as:
Increasing the flat usage fee to 15,000 VND per person, regardless of how long they stay.
Keeping the old policy but charging an additional 10,000 VND if a customer needs to re-enter for a second session after a lunch break.
Simply maintaining the current policy, as I believe no one can drink three coffees or three cans of Pepsi in one day.
Having customers work at the cafe brings positive energy and promotes your brand on social media. It also makes the cafe look lively and busy, which is good advertising for people passing by. It's important to remember that in Hội An, there are dozens of other places offering air conditioning and quiet workspaces—including a public library that is free from morning until evening. Customers have many choices.
Please reconsider this new policy. It will make customers feel uncomfortable. I am willing to share the cost by paying an extra 10,000 VND usage fee for a second session, but I am not happy about being forced to buy drinks I don't want just to increase my...
Read moreFirst of all, this is a great place to get some work done in the coworking space on the top floor, which is A/C cooled till 18:00, after only fan. Use of the Coworking Space only, costs 5.000 Dong till 18:00.
The cafe area one the ground and first floor is also decent but uncooled, even though it gets plenty of wind as it is pretty open. A downer on the first floor are the chairs and benches, which don't have any cushions, just bleak steel. A bit hard for my taste.
About drinks:
I tried several juices, which were pretty good and fairly priced.
I tried a normal and a double Coconut coffee both iced. A single one is fine, even though I didn't taste any coffee in it. The double really gave me these coffee and coconut flavors together, so thumbs up from me.
(Hot) Egg coffee is solid.
A nice surprise was the double salt coffee for me, which I tried hot. I really liked it. Just a bịt odd, I guess flavor-wise, if you never tried before.
Tried also their hot Vietnamese Milk coffee (Coffee Sua), but I have to say, mine was is horrible. Tasted burned.
And the iced Taiwanese Milk tea is also subpar. The tapioca balls were all sticked together in one big piece. Awkward.
About food:
I didn't try the food, but it seems over-priced, and there is not so much choice either. I heard from other people that they were not too happy with it. Try for yprself. But their are also plenty of options around if you feel like you need it.
Summary: A great place to work from if you are selective with your drinks and food choices and are ok wirh bringing a cushion (more...
Read moreIn Hoi An, there are so many cafes, and each one has its own unique strength and charm. Some have beautiful decor, others have delicious drinks, homemade pastries, or stunning views.
As for your cafe, your strengths are the lush, cool greenery and the uniquely peaceful co-working space on the 3rd floor. While your food and drinks are just average and nothing special, your staff are very friendly and enthusiastic.
Please always maintain your cafe's strengths. I have and will continue to recommend your co-working area to my friends when they visit Hoi An, as even when we're traveling, we still need a place to study and work remotely. The 10,000 VND fee for the 3rd floor might be a bit strange, but it's...
