Chops Tay Ho — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Amazing burgers, fast service, a good and ambient atmosphere. I am taking down two stars because of a strange behaviour of one of the waitresses there that was almost rude (although probably not intentionally).

We sat with my friend at the table for four, as the restaurant was empty when we arrived. It made her uneasy, and she insisted we sit at the table for two. After some discussion we agreed that we stay where we are, but if there is bigger group coming and they have nowhere else to sit, we move. Then people of four arrived, sat at the table next to us. She went to them to ask if they wanted to move to a different table (very unnecessary gesture), they said yes. She came back to us, telling us: “You have to move now.” When the group realised that we were sitting at the table she was offering, they objected, telling her that they were happy sitting where they were, no need to ask anyone to change the seats. They thought she was offering a free table, not the one where were people already sitting.

This strikes me as a weird behaviour, I almost had a feeling she was trying to kick us out for some weird reason. In any case, it was also a pity that this incident spoilt the whole impression I had about...

Chops – Tây Hồ, Hanoi

Right on the corner, along West Lake, Chops is where the burger game meets a little American rebellion—with red neon, bold wall art, and a playlist that could’ve been ripped straight off a vinyl collection. It’s got a vibe that says “welcome to the show” before you even take your first bite. With welcome to the jungle literally playing in the background.

The burgers? Thick, juicy, and unapologetically good. Aussie Wagyu patties cooked just right, buttery buns, and toppings stacked like a setlist—every layer hits. The fries are golden and crisp, made for dipping into their tangy, house-made sauces and they are served in swing-top bottles like something out of an indie diner (pulp fiction anyone?)

The interior walks the line between fast-casual and dive-bar cool. Murals of pop culture outlaws, and burger-loving legends, royal with cheese? stare you down while you eat, and you kind of love it.

Ho hum, ho hum it's off to chops we go!!! "Ho hum" is definitely the tune that fits this joint.

280k gives you a burger-is-a-burger memory backed up by decent fries and a milk shake that tries hard to impress with whipped cream and a cherry.

Its a lakeside hustle with a stale burger bun to remind you that the diners are desperate for any departure from noodles and mystery meat.

If I ever go back I'll ask "can I squeeze your buns for freshness before I order?" and then I'll shell out the cash and say to myself "a pretend burger is better than no burger at all"

Beer is beer and salads are salads, either well brewed or fresh or not so Chops delivers at standard for such items.

Good customer reviews for Chops are understandable since after waking in a desert for a while most people will rave about road kill.

Tourists and residents in denial will always be there so Chops will have little problem trapping hapless diners in the sticky web...
