Disappointed by our experience. We come for dinner, our waitress had placed cutterly in front of us, we ordered our drinks, she asked if we here for food, to which we said yes and then food menus were given to us. The waitress the came back a couple of minutes later to tell us food stops being served at 4pm. We were confused as to why our table area was set up for food and a good menu given to us whilst she also watched us flick through the meal options. However we just strugged it off as a mistake. Then after this the waitress came back to inform us there was no cola which my partner had ordered. Which if fine, as all places run out of things sometimes, this was not the issue. As there was no food being served and my partner's drink was out of stock, I said we will leave my drink I had ordered then and just take some cake to go. The waitress had then informed us this is not possible as the bar was currently making my drink and that my partner needed to pick a new drink. I explained my partner does not like anything else to drink and that we came for food and drinks we liked so, therefore we will just have cake to go no drinks. She was very adamant and carried on trying to persuade us to have drinks as they'd gone through the till. She then agreed to us not having drinks and said okay, she then came back to our table with my watermelon juice, we were really confused as we had just had a clear conversation that we didn't want drinks and she had agreed. Did she just expect me to drink my drink and my partner not have one ? We refused the drink, and then she continued to try to persuade us to have the water melon juice. We were really frustrated when leaving as the waitress tried to force us to have drinks that we did not want. We came for food, which they did not serve past a certain time (which is fine but please tell us that first, not let us flick through a food menu you have given us), then when there is not a drink available, don't then try to force us to pick another (which my partner does not like) and then be adamant that we must have the one drink I ordered just because it went through the till. eastern has been a favourite place for my family for a long time, we often go here to find a place to chill at weekends, the cakes are delicious and the staff were mostly lovely.
however, today i went to eastern after several weeks and found myself utterly disappointed. the shop has been busy (there were times i went and there were no table left so i happily left thinking the business is doing well), so busy that i think they have to put on a new policy allowing customers to only stay for 2 hours. i asked if i could stay till longer because it's not too busy on friday and the waitress came back to me saying that i would have to order more food. so the thing that made me so disappointed was the attitude, she talked to me as if i was annoying the restaurant to be BUYING and USING services here. she also asked me to pay right away (normally they let customers pay before we leave), the tone was demanding somehow it annoyed me, then she just stood there waiting for me to pay in awkward silence and it was one of the most terrible experiences of going to coffee shops for me.
the thing is, i love the place and have always loved the place, but this time left me not knowing how to think about it. i understand the shop is busy so there comes the policy that guests can only stay for 2 hours, but staff should also understand this is an inconvenience for us and please treat us nicely enough so that the negative feeling isn't so overwhelming. i literally have to rethink my decisions to go to the shop although it has always been my favourite. i don't know if staff will read this or not, but i hope you do listen to what your customers have to say, because not having customers coming back is the worst thing a business can have. the cakes are delicious and my friends love this place too, i really do hope the service also meet the hype that the...

Orange Dark Chocolate had a discount, so I ordered 2 slices to go. Staff said ok and put them the bag. Each slice was 50k, total should be: 50k x 2 + 8% = 108k.
I received a bill of 194k, confused and asked the cashier to check again. Turned out, slices that the staff put in earlier were a different type, which did not have the discount. And there is no orange dark choco left. Cashier blamed the staff, staff blamed another, total confusion, noone solved anything, awkward silence.
I was in a hurry and did not have time for more awkward silence, so I paid for the whole thing and went home. Still, no explanations, no accountabilities, no "discount for your next purchase", nothing. The whole team of 3-5 staff there and I did not received a single apology for A MISTAKE THEY MADE.
1st time: haha silly mistake 2nd time: ummmm okay... But this is MY 3RD TIME having to put up with this because they can't tell their cakes apart.
Advice: for future customers: make sure to ask the staff, and the cashier, and probably everyone in the building to CONFIRM AT LEAST 3 TIMES that the cake you ordered will be the one you receive. for the owner: train your staff better? at least to the point of knowing what they are giving the customers? and maybe communicate with each other better, know when to say apologies, PRIORIRIZE SOLVING THE ISSUE over blaming each other in front of customers? and maybe put some FREAKING LABELS on those cakes for this not to happen again.
