Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bep Hue, a small and unassuming restaurant nestled in the heart of the city. From the moment I walked through the door, I was struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere, with a sleek and minimalist décor that created a cozy and intimate space.
The menu at Bep Hue is a true culinary delight, featuring a delicious selection of traditional Vietnamese dishes that are expertly prepared using the freshest and most flavorful ingredients. I started off with the Goi Cuon, fresh spring rolls filled with shrimp, pork, and herbs, served with a tangy peanut sauce. These were absolutely delicious and a perfect way to begin my meal.
For my main course, I had the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup that was packed with bold and savory flavors. The broth was rich and aromatic, and the chunks of beef were tender and delicious. The portions were large and filling, and I couldn't help but clean my bowl to the last drop.
The real star of the show, however, was the dessert, the Xoi Nuoc Dua. It's a sweet sticky rice with a delicious coconut milk, topped with sesame seeds and shredded coconut. It's a heavenly dish that I could not get enough of.
The service at Bep Hue was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive servers who went above and beyond to make sure that I had a memorable dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend Bep Hue for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Vietnamese cuisine. It's definitely worth a visit, and I'm looking forward to my...
Small Yet Extremely Popular Restaurant, Especially During Lunch and Dinner. This restaurant may be small, but it’s always packed, especially during lunch hours when office workers come to eat, and again at dinner time. There aren’t many foreign tourists here, but it’s a place I frequent—probably around 10 times or more. I come here to eat alone, with friends, or to host international business partners. They’re always fascinated by the space, which exudes the nostalgic charm of Central Vietnam.
As the menu opening states:"The beauty of Huế cuisine is not only found in the palaces of the elite but is also present in the simple, daily meals of the common folk." This quote truly encapsulates the essence of the restaurant.
The restaurant stays true to tradition, with many dishes served on banana leaves. In Vietnamese culture, banana leaves are commonly used for everything from daily meals to offerings during religious ceremonies and holidays. Typical examples include dishes like bánh nậm, bánh bột lọc, bánh ít, and bánh giò. Every Tet holiday, families in our region (An Nam) gather around to cook bánh chưng and bánh giày on small wood stoves. The whole family is involved, from making the filling to tending the fire. Foreign guests, if they have the chance, should try cooking with locals and enjoy the fruit of their labor after hours of preparation.
Prices: The prices here are average, not too high or too low—similar to other Vietnamese cuisine spots. Personal Favorites: My absolute favorites are the bánh bèo chén and bánh nậm. Whenever I crave Huế food, this place is always at the top of my list in Saigon. Location: It’s a hidden gem, tucked away on a street that can accommodate cars. It’s still easy to find thanks to the distinct Central Vietnamese decor. Ambiance: The space is air-conditioned and has multiple floors. The dining utensils carry a vintage touch reminiscent of old Huế—decorative lights, the reception desk, and even the restroom have a charming blend of old and modern elements.
This is definitely a must-try spot for anyone...
