This place is just insane in the membrane! Just another amazing group of hard working WOMEN that love to express and fine tune their singular mission to feed the best of what they have to offer. The dessert is simply outrageous! Why is this dessert NOT on the radar of Michelin? The banana is encased inside green sticky rice in a rectangular shape. Then, the whole package is grilled over charcoal until lightly golden for some crispiness and chewy action. It is then cut into bite size so that you can pour their bag of warm coconut broth all over it. Your 1st bite will send you straight into dessert heaven and leave you praying for more. It's the perfect blend of tropical flavors, mixed with complicated texture between the rice and banana and then the warm buttery flavor of the coconut is just out of this world. I had no idea something this amazing can exist for 23K. All western countries can keep their idea of processed and heavy sugar dessert and give me this perfection every single day and night..
Warning! This dessert must be eaten immediately, drown it with the coconut broth and do not waste one drop of it. Do not walk away too far before inhaling it because you will realize you should have ordered more and be super sad you did not. This is an absolute serious dilemma...
Read moreThis place serves anthentic Southern Vietnamese desserts: Chuối Nếp Nướng (Vietnamese Grilled Banana in Sticky Rice) and Bánh chuối (Vietnamese steamed Banana Cake). Though being a big fan of them both, I personally lean towards the former more. And I don't see foreigners here, just local eaters.
Chuoi Nep Nuong is a delicious Southern snack or dessert. Served with rich coconut sauce and nutty toasted sesame seeds, this humble-looking dish delivers a wide range of textures and flavors.
What fascinates me about this popular Southern Vietnamese street snack is how many different flavors and textures are packed in it, although very few ingredients are used. The outermost sticky rice layer is golden and crunchy after being grilled. There remains a thin layer of sticky rice inside that is still soft-chewy. And in the center is a whole sweet and tender banana.
Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars!
Pro tip: Visit the roadside stall at the corner of Nguyen Van Thu and Dinh Tien Hoang in the late afternoon, they serve better Chuoi Nep...

These babies aren't just snacks; they're experiences. Drenched in a coconut sauce and sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, they're like a symphony of flavors in your mouth.
Now, what really gets my neurons firing is how these Southern Vietnamese street delights manage to cram so much complexity into so few ingredients.
Take a bite, and you're hit with layers of texture and taste. The outer sticky rice? It's crispy, golden perfection from the grill. Then, there's that soft-chewy layer inside. And nestled within it all? A whole, sweet banana.
It's a masterpiece of simplicity and satisfaction, folks. Thanks to Max for...
