we kinda wandered randomly into manki (found it on google maps) since we were staying at an airbnb nearby. it's in a beautiful old building (a cafe apartment) and we were initially a little cowed by the prices and the warning that each person must buy a drink or be charged 100K dong BUT we persisted and are so glad that we did!
i had a chili boat, which is like a coffee cocktail (not alcoholic) with 10+ ingredients and served in a martini glass that was super smooth, strongly caffeinated and soo nuanced. my first time having a non-alcoholic coffee cocktail like this and it was soo delicious! the coco shakerato and matcha-latte were similarly innovative and delicious... i was so sad i wasn't able ot make it back my last day in saigon for another cooc shakerato. probably my favorite coffee shop i've ever been to. full of locals and foreigners in the know...
the owner is a true artisan who knows his craft so well, his coffee is just amazing. really such a treat. well worth the price tag for truly truly artisanal coffee in a beautiful, calm setting!!!
free water bottle and super attentive staff as well. recommended already to all my...
Read moreI had been told by my fellow coffee aficionados to visit this charming cafe, and I must say, it did not disappoint!
The cafe itself is hidden in an old apartment, which adds to its unique and cozy atmosphere. As a coffee newbie, I was thrilled to discover their specialty coffee selection. Manki Coffee offers a great variety of coffee beans from different regions. The staff was knowledgeable and passionate about coffee, advising me on the drinks I should try. They were so kind to offer me a sample of other drinks. 🙏🏻
Not only do they serve classic coffee options, but they also have a range of creative drinks that are sure to tickle your taste buds.
This cafe is a must-visit if you are around District 1. The location is perfect as it's just a few minutes walk to other exciting spots in the city center.
I'll definitely come back to try other drinks that Manki...

service was hilarious. my friend ordered coffee and i tried to order a water because i had a stomach virus. turns out your options are to pay 100k for the privilege of sitting in this sad wannabe shop, or buy a drink for less (but still too much).
so i paid some stupid price for a tonic water, and they brought me a bottle of fentimans rose lemonade. i pointed out that it was not tonic water, it was rose lemonade by a famous tonic water brand, and i couldn’t drink it due to medication. the waitress left for 10 minutes before returning with the same bottle and confidently declaring “this is tonic water” and strolling off.
shambolic new ‘artisan’ cafes pop up every day in saigon so i end up trying too many, but this place is a particular brand of...
