I recently visited a café that left a lasting impression—not just for its ambiance, but for its deep respect for Vietnamese coffee heritage. What made the experience truly special was the use of Arabica beans grown in A Lưới, a highland region in Huế known for its pristine climate and rich soil.
The coffee was served with care: a small ceramic cup of espresso, a glass of water, a metal cup of ice, and a beautifully printed card detailing the origin and flavor profile of the beans. These weren’t just any beans—they were Vietnamese-grown, naturally processed Arabica from A Lưới, cultivated at 1400 meters above sea level. The light roast brought out delicate notes of cherry, honey, and clove, creating a cup that was both vibrant and soulful.
What stood out most was the way the café honored the beans. The presentation was thoughtful, almost ceremonial, and the staff clearly took pride in showcasing local produce. It felt like more than just a drink—it was a quiet celebration of Vietnam’s coffee-growing regions and the farmers behind each harvest.
As someone who values authenticity and local craftsmanship, I was moved by the experience. It’s rare to find a place that not only serves great coffee but also elevates the story behind it. I met young and friendly barista Luc who is so knowledgeable and passionate about his job and helped me to choose the beans and brewing method. I had a Stamaya Son La pour over and a slice of chocolate banana cake, which was also pretty decent. But the coffee and the service are the true highlights! Come here on your first day in Hue, and you’ll be wanting to come back again for your daily coffee.
Update: came here again today, tried a different coffee blend, still 10/10. Also decided to try the croissant and unfortunately it was a miss, not recommended. But please do come...
