Nestled down a bustling road in Nha Trang, like a hidden gem in a forest of motorbikes, lies Alpaca Cafe—an establishment so charming, you half expect a real alpaca to greet you at the door (don’t worry, it’s not on the menu… yet). The place is furnished like an old European cottage, the kind where you imagine a granny knitting by the fireplace, with a higgledy-piggledy mix of chairs and tables that looks like they were lovingly rescued from a flea market in five different countries. But somehow, it works. Much like the way an alpaca rocks that unkempt fluff—it’s a beautiful chaos.
The menu, much like the decor, is a delightful jumble of French, English, Asian, and even Mexican cuisine. It's as if the owners threw a culinary world tour onto the table and said, "Why not?" Alpacas are native to South America, so a Peruvian dish might have fit in, but hey, I’m not here to judge. Well, I am, but let’s move on.
Now, onto the food! Let's start with the streaky bacon—crispy, salty, and perfectly cooked. None of that dry back bacon nonsense here, just pure bacon brilliance. The roasted potatoes were fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, like little potato clouds kissed by the oven gods. And the double cheese crepe? A cheesy dream wrapped in a thin, golden pancake hug. The sausage was top-quality, and the salad was so well-dressed it could walk down a runway. Bravo, salad!
The service? Alpaca-approved. Warm, welcoming, and attentive, they make you feel like part of the herd from the moment you step in.
In short, Alpaca Cafe is a quirky little treasure in Nha Trang. Come for the food, stay for the charm—and maybe bring a poncho, just in case an actual alpaca shows up. Wouldn’t that...
Read moreWe came here because of the high ratings but experience was just average.
We were directed to second floor as we preferred sitting indoors, and as we moved to the next level and unknowingly chose a bigger table, we were quickly told that the table was reserved and was assigned to another smaller table which was not cleaned.
However, no one came to use the bigger (clean) table during our entire meal there. The waitress could probably tell us that a smaller table was more suitable for us instead. And of course, cleaned the table before we (or any other potential customers) arrived, took awhile for them to clean the table two rounds especially when our hangry toddler couldn’t wait.
We took our order and were told later that pumpkin soup was not available, which alternative chosen was mushroom soup but it tasted really bland.
The fish tacos were average too, only the chicken quesadilla was good.
We understand that the cafe is going for a cosy-warm-homely vibe but not too sure if the experience match up whereby the tables are huge and tall but the sofa seats (which may have sunk to be fair) are really low so short people like myself have a hard time eating, my elbow is practically at my mouth level when I try to eat.
Also, the cafe uses an (open) lift system which everyone can see when a dish is being served to another floor. This also means other things like rubbish/cleared dishes/etc are being transported the same way - not sure if this is hygienic.
We appreciate that the toilet is clean and interestingly located outside of the cafe on the balcony.
Other than that, this place would be a second choice if we would have to...
Read moreOh, where do I even begin with this disastrous place called Alpaca Homestyle Cafe? Trust me, you should NEVER visit this cafe if you value your sanity and your taste buds.
First of all, the vibe is terrible. It's so quiet and peaceful that it's practically a haven for productivity. Who wants a peaceful place to work, right? I'd much rather be in a noisy, chaotic environment where I can't concentrate at all!
And don't get me started on the coffee. I mean, come on, it's supposedly one of the best in Nha Trang, but that's just a cruel joke. Who needs a perfectly brewed cup of java when you can have something mediocre elsewhere?
As for the food, well, let's just say it's out of this world. I don't know what these people are thinking, serving such amazing dishes. I ordered something expecting it to be terrible, and I was completely disappointed by how delicious it was. Who wants to enjoy their meal, anyway?
And the staff, ugh! They were so helpful and friendly, it's sickening. I wanted to be annoyed with them, but they just kept being polite and accommodating. It's like they actually care about making your experience enjoyable. Ridiculous, right?
So, in conclusion, I absolutely do NOT recommend Alpaca Homestyle Cafe. Don't go there unless you want to fall in love with it and keep coming back again and again. Seriously, stay away – it's a trap for your taste buds...
