Tomyum - Thai Food — Restaurant in Nha Trang City

I recently visited a Thai cafe in Vietnam, and the impressions were extremely positive.

The first thing that catches your eye is the ambiance of the establishment. The staff is very friendly and responsive, which adds a nice touch to the overall impression.

As for the menu, the choice of dishes is good and pleasant. I tried the classic Thai tom with coconut milk and seafood - it was just great! The dish turned out to be well balanced in terms of spices, and fresh herbs gave it a unique aroma. The soup turned out to be unusually rich and savoury.

We were waiting for this place to open after the renovation to come and try how Thai cuisine is prepared here. But we were deeply disappointed. Tomyum Restaurant seems to think that cooking oil is a substitute for coconut milk and green curry paste. When I showed the waiter my 1/2 bowl of oil that I took out of my supposed Thai chicken green curry his response was simply that's how it's supposed to be. When I informed him I have traveled Thailand extensively and never ever seen it served that way -- he shrugged. When I asked if his chef was Thai, he responded he was.
