Cactus Bogosov Mexican Food — Restaurant in Nha Trang City

My wife ordered the vegeteraian burger which is listed in the menue as having grilled vegetables including bell pepper. What came out appeared to be some sort of pattie made from chicken. When we questioned the ingredients, the waitress insisted it was vegeteraian and was made from mushroom. Though we accepted it was most likely a mushroom pattie of some sort, we tried to explain that was not what we ordered, nor what is described in the menue for the veggie burger. The waitress didn't seem to get it and kept insisting it was a vegetable burger -but that wasn't the point. She went out the back to clarify and then came back again and repeatedly said it was mushroom and kept saying "it's new", however it still didn't seem like they understood the problem was that it is not the same burger that was advertised. If you order a beef burger but you get a chicken burger instead... I think it's fair to say you'd be disappointed (sure it's all meat, but it's a completely differen't burger); same thing here. Anyways, I ordered a spaghetti bolognese which came out as a pretty small serving size. Nothing wrong with the flavour or quality but a bit overpriced for a small serving. In the end we sent the veggie burger back and gladly wern't asked to pay for that, but when I accidently shortchanged the waitress (dong can be tricky to count because of all the effing zeros), she came back with who seemed to be the Russian chef, tall guy who towered over us and asked if we had a problem with the other meal. I think by this point the staff out back must have thought we were trying to muck them around but it was an honest mistake. Decent Burgers and Steaks, but Not the Best

Bogosov Burgers & Steaks is a small restaurant wedged in among multiple restaurants and bars along Hùng Vương Street (about two blocks from the main beachside thoroughfare (Tràn Phú) in Nha Trang. But, our group of six friends, all of whom were craving beef, were “on a mission” to find this cozy restaurant.

Featuring Australian beef, the menu has a large selection of burgers (in the range of $5-10 USD, including fries) and steaks (in the range of $15-25 USD). The burgers were a bit over-cooked to my liking, and even though I had asked for “no tomato sauce,” my burger had their “homemade tomato sauce” on it. That mistake was not a deal-breaker for me, so I just scraped off the ketchup. While the burger satisfied my beef craving, the flavor was not all that great. I don’t know if the beef had been frozen too long or if it had been ground from a lesser cut of beef, but it was just all that satisfying, overall.

My friends who ordered steak like their meals much more than I did.

There was a small wine list, along with local and imported beers.

If you want a change of pace from Vietnamese food, Bogosov is not a bad choice, but I’d probably choose a different restaurant for dinner were I to return...

I love Vietnamese food but I miss Mexican food so much. Being from South Houston I'm used to very authentic Mexican food. This place is all about the skeleton princesses and excellent Mexican decor and ambiance, but thankfully with classic rock instead of vintage Mexican music. I didn't expect authentic flavor, and my expectations sunk even lower when I found out the proprietor is Russian. But anyway I ordered the beef chimichanga. What came was not anything like a normal chimichanga dish. No beans or rice. Not smothered in sauce with cheese. The flavor was bland compared to what I was used to. It looked and tasted more like a big egg-roll with Mexican-ish filling. I was quite disappointed. But the more I ate the more I loved it. Definitely a step above, The salsa was quite tasty and the chimichangas were in fact quite flavorful. They didn't have the strength of taste of typical Mexican food, more of a gentle, slightly Northern European style of flavor. Surprisingly delicious. So as a result I would say this place exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to go back. Top notch high...
